CHAPTER 1: The Other Vixen
Ahh…the sun! But it is really a wonder why most people tend to get energized by its light. That big, bright, yellow ball that gives life to all things on earth. And that was exactly what Megumi thought as she was walking that short distance from her house to the clinic owned by the great Gensai-sensei. She was ready to work. She thought of her patients who also needed the sun's light. It was simply a splendid morning: a perfect start.
But oh, how very wrong she was…
As she made her way down the street, she noticed a stranger coming, a young girl, who was running very fast. Though, when she was nearing where Megumi stood, she suddenly stopped. She gave a smile, an "Ohayo gozaimasu," a quick bow, looked around and then continued her pace. She ran even faster after she greeted Megumi, who was almost unable to give back a reply before she disappeared at a street corner. She was surprised. Nevertheless, what surprised her was not the uncanny politeness of a stranger, or that this stranger seemed to know her but the stranger's appearance.
The girl had a waist length, almost disheveled hair. Her kimono was short enough to show her knees and lower thighs. She was profusely sweating (with all the running she did; Megumi's mental note.) And her face: Megumi was looking at her own image.
The girl looked just like her (maybe just a few years younger.)
