-March 17, 11:38 p.m.-

"Ow!" Itachi put his pricked and bleeding finger in his mouth. "Dammit! That's the third time…!" he placed a small Akatsuki uniform on his bed and lifted his plushie, Mr. Weasel, up. His mother had made him Mr. Weasel when he was little, and when he had come into the Akatsuki, he stitched an Akatsuki cloak for it. "Mmm…Mr. Weasel…" he purred as he snuggled with it.

"Mmmph…" In the bed across the room from him, Kisame shifted around. Itachi froze, fearing he'd wake up, but he stayed asleep.

"That was close, wasn't it, Mr. Weasel?"

"Yes. It was." he made the plushie say back.

"Let's finish this." Itachi picked up the small cloak and went back to stitching a cloud on it.

"Oww!"

-The Next Morning-

"Happy birthday, Kisame!"

Kisame seemed happy that everyone remembered, and that he'd gotten decent gifts, but it seemed that Itachi had forgotten and wasn't even in the base. He'd found some excuse to get out of staying for the day. Kisame felt a little bad. He wanted his new partner with him. He knew they currently weren't on the best of terms, but it would have meant something if he was there.

-Back Upstairs-

"I feel bad, Mr. Weasel." Itachi confided to his plush.

"Why?"

"Because. Kisame must think I forgot his birthday."

"You didn't, though."

"I know. I'm just too embarrassed to give him his gift downstairs."

"Why? You worked hard to make it."

"I know that, too." Itachi sighed. "I'm more afraid of embarrassing him."

"As I said, you worked hard. A whole month."

"Yeah." Itachi grinned. "He probably thinks I'm not even in the base."

"It's like you."

"Hey!"

"It's true, you know. He thinks you hate him."

"I don't! I just, barely know him." Itachi frowned at his plush. There was a small pause.

"Well, if you want to give him his gift, now's your chance."

"What do you mean?"

"He's coming upstairs. Now."

"Oh, my God." Itachi shoved his plushie under his mattress and quickly located Kisame's gift, hiding it behind his back as the shark-nin entered the room.

"Hunh? Itachi? I thought you were out." Kisame smiled at him, cheering up slightly. Itachi shifted nervously, then walked to him.

"H…Happy birthday, Kisame…" he said, holding out his gift. Kisame's eyes widened slightly. In Itachi's hands was a shark plush wearing an Akatsuki uniform, obviously hand-made. Tied to the plush's back was a smaller plush sword.

"Itachi…did you make this?" Kisame asked, taking the plush.

"Mmm-hmm…" Itachi answered back, not looking up.

"It's adorable!" Itachi looked up.

"Y…You like it?" he asked.

"Of course." Kisame affectionately ruffled Itachi's hair. "He's going on my bedside table, so I never lose sight of him." Kisame looked at the plush. "Isn't that right, Shark-chan?" As he spoke, the shark-nin placed his plush on the bedside table. Smiling, Itachi awkwardly slipped his arms around his partner. Startled for just a moment, Kisame returned the hug gently.

"Happy birthday, Kisame." Itachi said again.
