A/N- this is just something that came to me when I was watching LOST. I hope you like it.
Disclaimer- I don't own anything you recognise.
Prologue- Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
Kai stared up at the night sky from his place in the large tree in Tyson's back yard. He couldn't sleep, something about the single star in the sky called him outside- wouldn't let him rest. There was a song about stars wasn't there? He'd heard Hilary mention it at some point when talking about a cousin she had babysat. Twinkle, twinkle, little star- that's what it was called. He knew the title now, but he didn't know the words.
Would he ever know the words? Would someone teach him the way he hadn't been taught them in the abbey? He supposed he could look it up himself on the Internet, but it wasn't the same. He had always done things for himself, he needed someone to care for him, teach him the things he didn't know.
"Hn." Why was it bugging him, anyway? It was just a song to sing kids to sleep with- when was he ever going to do that? Never. Oh, girls liked him, he knew that, but he couldn't be what they wanted, someone who was normal, someone who could love. How could he when he'd never been loved?
Kai continued staring at the sky, the star catching his eye often. Weren't you supposed to wish on the first star? He'd heard Max do it.
Looking up at the star, he said. "I wish for someone special." He wasn't going to chance it and ask for that person to love him, too. It was all a load of kid stuff anyway. It wouldn't work.
He closed his eyes, not noticing the star shining brightly for a moment, before shooting off somewhere.
A/N- I know, it's weird, (and short), but it's a prologue. This story does actually have guidelines to a plot written down rather than just ideas in my head like others. Hopefully it'll work out, and the actual chapters will be longer! I already have the epilogue written, and there should be 20 chapters. Please review.
