What's under the mask?

Is it truly a face

Of iron, like a mace

Or is there something else lying beneath it?

Is the voice really crude,

Loud, boorish, and rude

Or is it something totally different?

What's under the mask?

Is it pimply and gross

With hair in the nose

And fungus growing out of the ears?

Or is it cleaned, washed, and fresh

With a well-trimmed moustache

And a voice that is so sweet to hear?

What's under the mask?

Is it an old man

With an interesting tan

From his face being hidden by the mask?

Or is it a young boy

With a face full of joy?

I don't know, so therefore I ask:

What is under that darned mask?!
