Just a little drabble that came to me.
It was just a dream. A horrible nightmare really. At any moment she would wake up. Sweat dripping from her body. Heart pounding. Relief coursing through her veins. She let her eyes drift shut as she squeezed a bit of skin between her fingers. A sharp pain radiated from the spot. Not a dream. Still a nightmare. One she couldn't wake from. Sucking in the painful sob that had formed in her mouth, she raised her chin a notch. Head still raised, she stepped forward and laid the single yellow rose she'd been clutching on top of the gleaming white casket. "Goodbye Lexie," Meredith whispered.
