A ray of sun hit Ivan's eyes, signaling morning had come. He grunted quietly and began rubbing his eyes. He shifted slightly so the ray didn't destroy his eyes when he opened them, before slowly peeking out.

That's when even he heard the breathing next to him. He smiled absent-mindedly, knowing exactly who the breathing came from. The deep breaths of the other man was comforting to Ivan. A warmth spread from his chest to his toes as he closed his eyes, listening to the other's rhythmic breathing that proved that he was alive and therefore so was Ivan.

Sometimes only your enemies will fully understand you. Sometimes understanding one another is enough to forgive. And sometimes to be understood is all you needed all along.

He turned his head slightly, registering the figure of a sleeping blonde boy next to him. He stared at him for a couple of seconds longer, before deciding he should start his day.

Ivan sat up, stretched his arms quietly, and slowly swung his feet to the edge of the bed, not wanting to wake Alfred. He raised his large arms once again in a stretch, before a smaller, but still strong, set of arms wrapped around his waist.

Alfred pulled himself towards Ivan, burying his face into the side of his hip. He mumbled something only Ivan could hear and in response, Ivan sighed, and muttered a word of agreement. But still Alfred didn't lighten up his embrace.

Ivan smiled at this, despite the thought of how he'd start later on his mountain of work. This was definitely worth it.

Ivan placed his hand on the blonde's head, weaving his fingers through the others hair.

Alfred, still half asleep, tightened his grip and smiled, before the other's strokes lulled him back to a full sleep.
