I Won't Stand
I won't stand for this inequality
They try to push me down but I stand up again
They see me as a pretty figure-but when I'm not pretty, I'm appalling
When will this sexism end?
I won't stand for this nonsense
They think I'm here to serve
But if they think they can use me at their expense
Then they've truly got some nerve
Ever since I've been here, they've treated me like mud
They don't get that I can stand apart from them
So they treat me like a piece of crud
They think they can shove me around, but I won't let that become a trend
When will this old-fashioned treatment end?
I know it's the Middle Ages
And they haven't learned any better
But this inexcusable behavior throws me into a rage
Despite this, gender roles leave me unfettered
I'll stand my ground
I won't let them push me around
Neither me nor my sister will back down
Too bad Smurfette grovels at their feet
And cries whenever they don't let her get her way
She puts them at the front of her mind every single day
It's too bad she can't break free from the chains they've bound us in
And stand up for righteous treatment and try to help us win
But I don't care if she's too feeble
I don't care if she has no strength
My sister and I will continue to defy
Until the ocean becomes bone-dry
Because WE deserve to be equals to the boys
WE won't let them use us as their toys
We will fight to the end
We will conquer the path of destiny's bend
We're not afraid to show them
We're not afraid to shine like a gem
When we let them know
We are women
We are power
We are equal
But just because we're pretty doesn't mean you can throw us around
We WILL stand our ground
But people like Smurfette slow us down yet
And for values like hers that let men treat us like their pets
For morals like that, I won't stand.
