Civil War: The Bullet
"Hank... do you ever wonder if we're on the wrong side?" Peter Parker, The Amazing Spider-man, questioned, the man he was talking to was Hank Pym, the costumed hero currently known as Yellowjacket. Hank looked over at his ex-wife, Janet Van Dyne, also known as the Wasp. Janet returned his look, but it was unreadable to both men. Finally Hank spoke
"No," he said, a little too sternly, "But this is unnecessary, and it's all Cap's fault."
"C'mon Hank..." Peter began, but Hank had already stormed off, leaving Peter looking at the cloned Thor being operated on leaving him to wonder where his morals had gone.
"We're doing the right thing, Peter" Said Janet shakily, "Hank didn't mean what he said."
"Let me tell you something that I've never told anyone. 'Cept MJ." Peter said, not even turning to face her, "You saw my unmasking on the news right? That guy asked me about why Osborn and I are "mortal enemies"."
"You mentioned he killed someone dear to you," Jan replied, Peter nodded.
"Yeah, but it's worse then that. The simple version of it is, that person was cloned by a Professor named Miles Warren. Eventually that lead to my being cloned and Warren, now calling himself the Jackal tricked us into fighting each other. But eventually that clone became a brother to me. Then the Goblin killed him too."
"I don't mean to sound harsh, but what's your point?" Jan asked, and at this Peter turned to face her.
"My point is," Peter said softly, "I look at Reed, Tony and Hank, and I ask myself how are they any better then Miles Warren, or Norman Osborn. They playing god. They're creating gods to use as weapons... And that's all this Thor will ever be, we're using the memory of an companion, an avenger... a friend to make the so called "rebels" afraid, we're saying "Hey, this is a clone of Thor, so if the clone's on our side, that means the real Thor would be too!" when we know that he wouldn't. It's not right, the line between right and wrong has blurred all because of this SHRA and they haven't even realized that. Cap may be on the wrong side of the law, but I'm beginning to think he's still the hero... while we've all turned into villains."
"I don't think it's that simple." Jan replied, but there was no truth left in her voice. Peter had just laid the truth out in front of her. But if she had any doubts left about being on the wrong side, Peter added one last thing that shattered them.
"Avengers don't kill Jan," He said coldly, "But Reed, Hank and Tony are murderers, Thor was just the bullet they used to kill Goliath."
And with that, Peter turned and walked away.
