Alex
I lay in bed think of what to do. For some reason I didn't want to go. But then the next second I did. I thought back to today. On the bus when my best friend said he was a monster. He wasn't. I still remained clueless to what he meant. Maybe going to this camp could help me figure out what he meant. Or maybe I wouldn't. I didn't know anything about this camp other then my father wanting me to go to it. I didn't care what he wanted. I wanted answers.
The sky wasn't plain like it is in big city's. The sky was littered with stars. I looked up at the moon. And for a moment I felt like someone I maybe knew was looking up at that same moon. For a split second I felt like it was my dad. Then I snapped out of it. If he cared he would be here.
It was almost impossible to sleep that night. I went to bed at what seemed like 3 am. I didn't get much sleep at all, but by the morning I had come to a decision. I was going to this camp. I packed a bag before I went down stairs. It was small but I figured it would get me though the summer or how ever long I stayed. The smell of bacon and egg caught my attention. As I walked down my mom smiled at me. She noticed my bag and her smile soon faded.
"So, I've seen you've made your decision."
Yeah, yeah I did."
"Well after we finish up I'll take you to the place where you're getting picked up."
"Huh? What do you mean?" I asked.
"Oh well another kid in our town is going, I'm not sure if you know him, but—"
"I...I get it mom."
"Oh alright dear."
It took her awhile to finish her breakfast, like she was stalling. When we got in the car she was talking awhile to get it started as well. I tried not mind. As we reached the "drop off" area, she gave me a hug and kiss on my cheek, then left. She didn't say a word. The drop off place was pretty shady. I didn't really trust it.
I heard rustling in the bushes. I stepped back. The sound got louder and louder. Oh shit, I thought. It's probably just a rabbit.
What popped out of the bushes was the last thing i would ever expect. It was Owen. Following behind him was a kid about 11 or 12, with dark orange hair that was almost light brown, it reminded me of a hobbit. His eyes were pretty large and they were a Beautiful green. His face was splattered with freckles.
"Oh uh Alex." Owen was shocked to see me, I was too.
"Hello! I'm Sammy, you can call me Sam, If ya want. I'm here to take you guys to camp." Sammy said. He was very enthusiastic.
"Owen?" I said.
"Uh yes?" Owen said
"Uhh, never mind." Owen nodded.
"So, you two know each other?"
"You could say that." I said. Owen had a smug look on his face but he still looked pretty. STOP, I told myself, that's in the past.
"Oh ok, well let's get going shall we!"
Sammy skipped along. Me and Owen followed behind him. I knew the train station was a least half a mile from here. As we walked I kept on thinking about the past, when me and Owen were best friends. I can still remember when we used to go out into the woods with our old friend Andy. I stopped myself from thinking too much about it. It was memories I had repressed long ago. I didn't want to start thinking about them again.
