Oh, gah. I feel so cheesy after writing this. Again, for Compterfreak101's forum in the forums. Round four: polar shipping. Enjoy.

Mai tapped her foot angrily, arms folded over her chest, seemingly uncaring that the focus of nearly the whole restaurant was her. "Jounouchi Katsuya, do have any idea how late you are?"
The audience's gaze switched to Jou, who grinned weakly. "About half an hour. I'm sorry but—"
"I was about to leave! Honestly, some days I don't understand why I don't just walk out the door and leave you by yourself."
"Mai, babe, I'm sorry, but I had to—"
"How many times have you been late to a date this past month?"
Jou rolled his eyes. "Mai—"
"How many, Jounouchi."
He sighed, and muttered something. Mai raised an eyebrow. "What was that now?"
"I said," he muttered again, "at least twice a week."
"Exactly! I don't get you some days, honey, really I don't!"
"Mai—"
"I mean, do I matter that little to you that you can't be on time even once? I don't see why I shouldn't get up and walk out of this restaurant right now and—"
"Mai." Jou grabbed her flailing hands. She stopped and blinked a few times. Jou smiled again, and slowly sank down to one knee. Releasing one of her hands, he dug a black velvet box out of his jacket pocket. "Mai," he flipped the lid of the box open and offered it up to her, "will you marry me?"
She gasped and her hands flew to her mouth. "Oh, Jou…" She looked from the ring, sparkling in the spotlights, to his face. "So, this is why you've been so distant?"
"Sure is. I've spent the last month trying to find the right ring… But it won't be worth it if you don't put it on. So, I ask again; Mai Kukaju, will you marry me?"
"Oh, Jou! Of course!"
Jou got to his feet and slipped the ring on her finger, "There, finally," and kissed her while the rest of the restaurants patrons clapped and whistled.
