Abby stood staring at the door to the Great Hall. Her left hand hung at her side, gripping onto her wand so tightly her knuckles were white while her right hand was in her mouth, her nails being chewed off. Her stomach was performing little flips and she felt sick to her stomach. She was as white as freshly fallen snow and she felt like she was going to vomit at any second.

She was terrified. But she wasn't going to run away, not yet. She stared at the door desperately hoping that it would never open, that she could escape it all. She felt like a coward. Battle of Hogwarts was drawing nearer and what did Abby and the other hundred students have to do...wait. They will be needed later.

She felt someone pull her hand away from her mouth and wrap their own around it. Abby looked up to see Calvin. He was slightly taller than she was with long, black hair and eyes the colour of walnuts. He smiled his usual confident smile which usually would have made Abby feel so much better. This time however even Calvin's beautiful smile couldn't distract her from the fear and sadness that was contained in his eyes.

"Don't worry Abby" he said in his quieter tone of voice "We will beat him! We'll survive, you'll see. Then we can do everything we said we would...buy a flat, visit America...you'll see"

Abby managed a smile. Calvin was right. There were plenty of other students fighting alongside them, and Calvin would protect her. He was one of the best in Defence against the Dark Arts, he would survive for a certain. The two of them would come out victorious, holding hands and just as in love as they are before the battle.

"I love you" Abby whispered to him, her throat breaking at the end from the tightness of her throat, it was what always happened when she was scared.

"And I love you too" he said pulling her closer and pushing his lips against hers. The kiss lasted only seconds before they heard uproar from outside. Screams and explosions, it was the cue. It was the time they had been waiting for. It was time for them to fight.

Calvin and Abby exchanged a glance before dropping their hands, readying their wands and then, after taking a deep breath, they ran into battle.
