"Angel..." I heard someone whisper near me. I went towards the direction from where the voice was coming only to come to a dead stop. I stood there horrified to see the crumpled heap of mass lying in front of me. A shiver went down my spine as I choked on my own voice. My scream escaped as a gasp, "Patch..."
Right there, in front of me, at my feet lay the body of the love of my life, with something identical to blood coming out of his torso, which had a deep stab, radiating a blue light.
That was when I heard the shriek of laughter behind me and my head snapped around out of instinct. I had this terrible feeling that I knew exactly, to whom the voice belonged to.
I winced as I turned; a blinding blue light rendered me visionless. I waited for my vision to readjust, and soon a form started taking shape in front of me. I could see his mouth twitching at corners in a devilish grin and soon enough there he was, back from dead, Dante matterezi.
He plunged towards me and strangled me saying, " everyone has to pay for their sins, aren't I right Nora?" I felt my body going numb as my lungs screamed for air.
I woke up with pools of sweat on my pillow. As my I eyes focused at the face in front of me, I heaved a sigh of relief.
There he was, in one piece, worry on his face, solid, beautiful and all mine. My Patch.
He asked in a troubled tone, " Are you all right Angel? I don't know, you suddenly started screaming and I tried to wake you up but you just wouldn't come back. I thought something had happened... Are you fine?"
I got up with a jerk and hugged him. It felt so good to be able to feel the warmth radiating from Patch's body again, to know that he was all right and he was right here with me.
I sighed again, "I don't know... after three years... it's just strange... I had this weird dream where Dante had nearly killed you with devil craft and trying to strangle me after that and it was horrible kind of... I don't know it's all very confusing. He was dead alright, that day. Right, Patch?"
He looked a bit grim now, "I think he did die."
I asked him playfully to lighten the mood a bit, "Are you sad that he died?"
He shook his head, "No Angel. It's just that something crossed my mind ..."
I asked in an awkward tone, "It couldn't be anything to be worried about, right? This dream I mean...'
He put his chin on my head, "Nah... nothing to be worried about. Let's go back to sleep Angel."
But he had done the damage, I already knew something was on his mind and he wasn't telling me. I knew he was trying to protect me, even though I almost saved the Nephils almost alone three years ago. Still, I guess it wasn't enough to win Patch's appraisal as a strong person capable of protecting herself. After all I was all he had, how could he trust someone as reckless as me to protect myself.
Though I went back to sleep I couldn't shake off this feeling that something bad was going to happen.
