I'm not saying such fics don't exist, but about 99.9% of all fics about Taka or Scar's childhood usually end up with foreshadowing of him being evil or the start of his descent into evil. But what I want to do is, for a brief minute, or how long it will take you to read my entire story, make you forget that he will ever be evil. I am personally very fond of viewing Taka and Mufasa's relationship early in their lives to be very sweet and brotherly, and so as of such I decided to make one about it.
I do not own the Lion King or any of its content, it all belongs to Disney. I don't own the cover image either.
Enjoy the story!
Almost every time he saw him, it sent him running away in tears or just sitting or standing there, hurting deeply inside. Each time he tried to engage in a conversation with him or at least make him acknowledge that he was there and that he wanted to spend time with him, were shot down one by one.
Each time, each time he was ignored, neglected or even physically hit, it only drove Taka more and more to believe the horrible truth.
His father didn't care about him.
He was the young prince, his father didn't care about the second-rate brother when he had a kingdom to rule and someone to teach how to rule it someday. Taka knew this. He knew that the only way he'd ever get noticed was if something happened to the crown prince and that caused him to inherit the throne next. In short, his father wouldn't think to even look at him or check on how he was doing unless it was important or an emergency.
Having his father neglect him and not having a father figure to look up to made some rather large gaps in his life. Luckily for him though, there was someone else out there who would always be by his side. Someone to be his shoulder to cry on. Someone that he could trust and always knew to have his back and best interests at heart.
Mufasa, his big brother.
Everytime he hurt himself, Mufasa would be there to bring him to their mother or over to Rafiki's hollow. Whenever his father would ignore or lash out at them, Mufasa was always there to lend a helpful paw, a comforting hug or some warm advice.
It was like he filled a void in his life where his father couldn't be.
At this moment, the two were beside the Watering Hole with him sobbing into his brother's chest, soaking his fur with tears. Mufasa, however, was patient with him and gave him all the time in the world to let it all out. His arms were wrapped comfortingly around his back and his paw came up and down and in circular motions as Taka bawled his eyes out. Another day, another day neglected, another emotional breakdown.
No matter how long it took, his older brother would be there for him. He would stay long past the sunset and into the cold night if he had to, but he would stay by his brother's side. Hopefully through their childhood, their teen years and onto when they were full grown.
Mufasa loved Taka and he knew Taka loved him back. They were brothers, and if being brothers meant you always had the other's back no matter what, then this is what he had to do to make sure his younger brother felt loved.
Meh, I'm a sucker for all things cute brotherly/platonically, and I have to say Taka & Mufasa is by far my all time fav. It's a shame that it didn't last between them, but let's just keep looking at this story and slowly believe somewhere that it would.
Thanks for reading, please leave a review with some feedback, it's always appreciated and have an awesome day. Sincerely, v.t.7
