Prologue~ White Rabbit
One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small,
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all.
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall.
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall,
Tell 'em a hookah-smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call.
Call Alice
When she was just small.
When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low.
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know.
When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead,
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
Remember what the dormouse said:
"Feed your head. Feed your head. Feed your head."
--"White Rabbit", Jefferson Airplane
Swirls of Technicolor hysteria
A delicate hint of strawberry chaos
The firm grasp of disorder on my shoulders
I was the painter, chef, and prima ballerina of the scene below.
My name falls from their lips like a stone
Sinking with the lovely blood beneath the earth, saturating it
Making ripples
Eris.
I was giddy
Euphoric
Dancing, spinning, faster, faster
Flying while trying to fall.
Or was it the other way around?
Everything was topsy-turvy
Watching the tin soldiers topple and sway
Painting everything an evil red
Peering through the haze.
Battle cries from the edge of death
Or are they whispers beneath the stars?
Is it tomorrow?
Or is it yesterday?
A/N Alright, so. To explain, this is a modern story of Eris with an Alice In Wonderland-y sort of twist. Yeah, very out there, I know. I will post the first chapter as soon as this gets a response. Thanks for reading! xD
Update: So, I hope this bold/italics/underline situation is less confusing…
