AN:
I was re-writing my main story 'I don't like you' when this idea struck me. I was like, fuck. Now I have to write that. So here it is. Hope you all enjoy.
Disclaimer: I own nothing, only J.K. Rowling does. I did own a cheese sandwich but I ate it ages ago. *sigh* Looks like I'll have to make another one.
"But I love you Draco. Doesn't that count for anything?"
Draco shook his head in regret. He'd led this too far. He'd let his feelings get in the way too much. He'd allowed himself to fall in love with her too, with Hermione, and now he was going to have to push her away. But she wasn't making it easy; of course Hermione could never make it easy.
"Hermione, I don't want you anymore. Sure what we did was fun but my world and you're world don't belong together, their polar fucking opposites, Hermione." Hermione laughed bitterly as she wiped the tears off her face with the arm of her Grifindor jumper. She wasn't buying it. She knew better than to believe what he said anymore, especially when it came to them. Them, the word made Draco feel sick in the stomach. It almost implied that they'd had been something, not just a quickie every now and again. "Hermione listen to me-"
"No! Don't do this Draco, please don't do this." She started to cry harder at this and he automatically took a step towards her, almost like he was going to comfort her. He lifted his hand, reaching up to brush a loose strand of hair that had fallen across her face, away; but then dropped it before he'd made contact with her skin. It wouldn't help the situation at the moment if he let his feelings get in the way again.
"I'm sorry Hermione. I really am."
"Is this because of what you are?" This made Draco freeze. How did she know about what he was? He'd always been careful not to roll his sleeves up in her presence, to not take his shirt off when they fucked. How did she know?
"How did you-"
"Harry. He's surprisingly smart, no matter what you think. I don't keep secrets from my friends Draco, about anything." Nodding, Draco pulled his wand out of his pocket and then pointed it at her. His arm shook as he aimed at her, but it wouldn't matter. He was shooting to kill, not to maim. She knew too much already and he certainly couldn't leave any loose ends.
Drawing in a deep breath Hermione looked at the tip of his wand, her brown doe eyes going crossed eyed as she did. He was going to kill her, after everything they'd been through together.
"Do it." She whispered. His grip on the wand faltered slightly, she was telling him to do it and it was killing him. He couldn't do it. He couldn't kill Hermione; he loved her too much to do so. "What are you waiting for!" She screamed at him. Taking a step forwards she grabbed his wand and pushed it into her chest, right over her heart.
"I can't." Draco whispered back to her. Dropping his wand he turned away from her and started to walk away. "I really do want you Hermione. But this is the reason why I have to go away, to get away from you so I don't have to hurt you." And then he was gone. Hermione could hear his footsteps on the wooden stairs leading back to Hogwarts and then she couldn't.
He was really gone. She thought to herself. And then, as an Owl fluttered past her with a mouse clutched in his beak, did Hermione Granger finally notice his wand still clutched in her hand. He'd left his wand…
Hermione was pretty sure that's when she finally broke down and started to cry, Draco's wand clutched to her chest like some sort of a security blanket.
I'm a bitch, no need to tell me XD.
