"I wish to be in the room of hidden objects." She whispered for the third time, pausing as a door like that of a great cathedral appeared in front of her. At the sound of silence, she darted pearl-grey eyes around. The lady, grey in both name and face.

She glided in, taking in all the things that students had ever lost or wanted to hide. A diary, a spoon, a book covered in blood. Trivial things, potent poisons. She had not been here for a hundred years, and although the objects had changed, the feel of the room had not.

She knew where it was. Her eagle-sharp eyes alighted on a bookshelf covered in a layer of dust. She could glide over the debris easily, but a student would have much trouble getting here.

It was glittering, still fine as the day her mother had crafted it, delicate, a ring of silver thin as a stream of blood. The diadem was still enticing, telling her that she could have unlimited knowledge, that she could rule the world. But Helena instead placed her hand on the ages-old scar on her chest. She no longer wished to be a queen.
