Flash. Bang. The night sky lit up with a hundred different colors, each pearly and transparent. The heat from the explosion was becoming uncomfortable, but it was going to get a lot worse before it got any better. A young girl, about seventeen, crouched behind a giant water tank and signaled for the boy behind her to follow. Breaking out of a high security prison complex was no picnic, and Fidelle knew that, so the two teenagers ran along the back wall, weaving between the down light fixtures and broken glass. Leaving this place was of great importance, because when you try to bomb any governmental building, your survival started to look very bleak...
An icily mechanical voice screeched, "Stop where you are, put your hands in the air!"
"Liam, keep running, it's just the alarm, it's designed to scare the people who break in!" Fidelle yelled over he shoulder. She jumped over a hole in the ground, large and gaping, hit the ground running and disappeared around the corner.
"What if it's not?" Liam asked, mostly to himself since Fidelle was out of sight.
"Then we die." Was the answer he got. He smiled and jumped, forgetting his fear of falling for just a moment. He rounded the corner and there was Fidelle, surrounded by about six prison handlers.
"Where are you headed girl?" The largest of he group asked. Liam sighed quietly. It always had to be the big ones Fidelle got angry.
"Not here, where are you going?" Fidelle asked as sweetly as she could manage. She really hated all authority. She couldnt stand not being in charge of the situation.
Liam didn't listen to the rest of what was said, but instead concentrated on aiming the tazer he had stolen from the Headquarters earlier that night. He shot the high-powered thing at the larger man, and he fell to the ground and groaned. He was out. The other five handlers disappeared into the shadows and Fidelle sprinted down the hallway, Liam right behind her.
"How'd you get a tazor Liam?" Fidelle looked over at him for just a moment.
"You have to have such things if you wish to break out of a prison alive.." He tone sounded just a bit snug at having impressed Fidelle; she was usually the one with the back-up plans and weapons.
The pair shot down another two hallways and came to a window. Liam kicked out the glass as Fidelle twisted the hidden bracelet on her wrist. Two sleek hover boards appeared right under the window sill and without a thought Fidelle jumped onto hers. Liam took a second, swallowed and told himself there was no way he could fall, the hover board would catch him. He stepped onto it and the thing slowly started to follow Fidelle's board, gaining speed at an alarming rate.
