It was dark.
Alone underground, the boy silently made his way through the deserted and destroyed ruins of a subway.
The darkness enveloped him more for every step he toke in the underground passageway, and he knew it was only a matter time before he couldn't go on any longer, but that was all the more reason for him to keep moving on.
His eyes gazed up at the cracked linings of the walls around him seeing only but the smallest rays of moonlight seeping in and illuminating the shadows.
The sight filled his heart with a bit of happiness.
He'd become so accustom to living in darkness for protection he'd almost forgotten what even the smallest glimmers of light felt like.
For each step he was taking it felt like he would faint any moment now.
The tunnel he'd lived in shielded any hope he had of seeing the world from the outside again, but in Satellite the outside world is a very dangerous thing he'd experienced firsthand and had to learn the hard way.
He slid a cold hand down on the scar on his left arm scared to even remember what had happened to him the day he decided to hide from the world in solitude, but still after doing so he could only wonder a few things.
Was this his life now?
Will he ever find peace?
Would he continue to live in this world of despair?
Without another thought he continued on moving deeper into the shadows.
How long would it be until he collapsed from exhaustion, a few minutes or possibly mere seconds! It was impossible to tell how much time he had left. But he still needed to keep moving forward.
Was whatever was at the end of this tunnel so important he needed to push himself this hard?
He stopped.
Leaning against the wall in exhaustion as his breathing started to become heavier.
Using all his strength he reached his arm forward gazing at his white black gemmed Duel Disk to what seemed like hours.
The darkness didn't bother him.
Regular people would be completely blinded up to this point, but since the boy had spent so much time living in complete shadows his eyes have been adjusted to see through complete darkness.
He slowly reached for his Card holster before setting a hand on the top of his Deck before swiping the card so quickly it almost looked like it was glowing black from the sheer speed of the draw.
His only friends were his cards…
Maybe they could help shed some light in his world of darkness!
His eyes widen in astonishment as he stared at the drawn card through the shadows.
He toke one last look at the card before returning it to his holster and staggering off deeper subway as an apparent smile of happiness crossed his face.
Then suddenly a rev of an unfamiliar Duel Runner echoed throughout the subway causing him reel back in shock before a bright light flashing in his eyes causing him to let out a sharp hiss.
The light was so blinding the last thing he saw before collapsing on the ground was the color red.
Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's: The Five Pillars
Chapter One
Time
Taking a deep breath as a boy wearing black pants, a white V-Neck T-Shirt and Black shoes woke up from his meditation as his blue eye gazed quietly at the walls of his two room apartment listening to the ringing of his alarm clock.
Dangling his legs to the side of his bed as he pressed a button on his blaring clock next to him that turned it off and brought silence to his bedroom once more.
"Well..." He began, sliding a free hand down his spiky brown hair, "What reason could I have for thinking about the past during my 10:00 meditation?"
Andrew. Age Thirteen. Despite his ability to see in darkness he's pretty much a normal everyday Duelist who lived an average life.
Which is the life he wanted to live several months ago when he was living underground in Satellite, but things don't always go as you planned?
A lot of unbelievable things had occurred in New Domino City over the past couple months with him being dragged into more situations than he would have liked.
A fate that involving fighting against darkness instead of living in it? It was ironic, but not something he should concern himself with now since a lot of good things had happened to him since leaving his world of darkness and despair.
It was a shame though that fate didn't let him continue on living a peaceful life of solitude like he always wanted to, but fate wasn't something that could be so easily be controlled.
For all the time he spent lurking in the shadows even after moving to New Domino City after certain events had occurred he never did think how much his friends have changed over the past year.
Akiza the Black Rose Witch; an anti-social girl with who shunned friendship and despisedsociety, but soon became a more open person who now helps people instead of hurting them.
Crow the Bullet; a thief who broke laws by stealing from Sector Security to support himself and the orphans he was taking care of, but soon put his criminals ways aside and is now trying to work with the law instead of against it.
Leo; a very carefree person who acted dumbly and started off cocky and sure of himself of his Dueling skill when they first met, but became a more mature person as he steadily grew as person as well as a duelist.
Yusei; calm and caring person who always tried to do everything on his own and tried to carry the responsibility for events that he felt was because of him but began to realize he couldn't do everything by himself and had to rely on his friends more often.
Andrew yawned, rubbing his eyes as they adjusted to the darkness he was in as he finally slid off his bed landing on the floor; he made his way to the kitchen.
It wouldn't be long before he found his favorite snack.
...
Grabbing a granola bar from the pantry and peeling the wrapper off before devouring it in seconds; Andrew glanced at his white black gemmed Duelist disk lying on the table.
At one time he thought his life had no purpose… that he was of no use to anyone and was forced to live in a life of constant struggle, but after meeting, Yusei, Jack and the other Signers he realized his life was more important than he first thought.
Quickly attached the disk to his forearm as he remembered the first two people who brought meaning into his life. The first was Yusei after meeting him sometime after almost getting run over by his Runner and...
His face turned slightly red as a smile was implanted on his face.
Luna.
The girl who's pretty much changed the most out of all his friends since the day he touched all their lives for the better. And it's all thanks to the Mark of the Crimson Dragon engraved in his skin! He grasped his left arm covering the birth mark that he once mistook as a scar at one point.
Sliding his Deck into the Holster of his Disk, Andrew silently walked out of his apartment and into the dark alley of the Downtown District.
The door slammed shut behind him as he placed the silver key in his pocket and slowly through the alleyway before covering his nose as the smell of rotten fish filled his nostrils.
True, if it weren't for the darkness and silence that inhabited the Downtown District he would probably be living in the tops of Domino.
Even after breaking free from the chains of fear binding him to the world of darkness and opening himself up the outside world he still could up to the world he still couldn't shake this habit of living in dark places.
Strange!
Out of the other entire Signer's he had always been the strangest one out of all of them.
He couldn't worry about the person he was back then, but despite the fact of changing so much he had always felt he was different from the rest of all his friends... most of his strength doesn't seem to come from his friends… it seems to be driven by something else, but what?
But that's something he shouldn't be concerning himself with…
For now!
Taking a deep breath continued his way out of the alley trying his best to ignore the mixture of revolting smells entering his nostrils.
"I can't think about such depressing on such a beautiful day." He thought smiling as he slowly ran out of the alley making his way out the alley, "I needed to have some fun!"
However since the WRGP ended and the bad guys were all defeated nothing to interesting really happened in the city anymore. For some reason after all the fighting to protect the city and the world ended he felt a bit empty inside…almost as if he missed that kind action…
What a strange feeling.
"I really am the strangest person out of all my friends." He sighed disappearing around the corner.
Over the past few months he's been with the Signers he's started to feel like he was different from the rest of them...
Suddenly shiver went down his spine causing him to stop in his tracks and quickly look over his shoulder.
...
Nobody was their!
Narrowing his eyes as he carefully scanned the surrounding area around him to see if there was anyone or anything that was close to him.
After dealing with the Dark Signers in their plan to destroy the world, the Three Emperors of Yilaster, Aporia and Z-One's Ark Cradle plan he's learned when strange things start occurring especially with a Signer something's bad bound to happen sooner or later and he would avoid being caught is so much conflict it would endanger the life of everyone important to him.
Um, right?
He'd been getting this strange feeling ever since Yusei defeated Z-One and saved the city from destruction, but even after a month he still didn't what and why he was feeling this way.
Taking a deep breath as he turned around continuing his run down the streets with no another thought in mind instead of getting to the city.
There wasn't any need to worry him like this after all he defeated Goodwin, Aporia and saved the world just like Yusei had. So whatever was going on he could deal with it himself.
-Tops Resident-
Yusei looked over the stretch of the city and smiled. It had came so far. And yet it wasn't finished. He still had to help the people of Neo Domino with all these problems.
Andrew walked to his local market to buy his grocery's. He passed by a restaurant and paused to stop where, a special was happening. All pizza was 2.99 for 3 pizzas for today only! He rushed over to the food place and jumped to the line. But he stopped when he saw Luna walk by. He turned beet red and walked over to talk to her when, a massive explosion occupied the whole walkway.
It was unexpected and Andrew got a surge of adrenaline and rushed forward to save Luna. He pulled her back from the explosion and was hit instead of Luna.
He Flew backward and landed on a wall that had been broken by the blast.
Luna looked up, and tried to remember what was going on. The city was on fire and some buildings were destroyed. Not the typical city day.
