Ok...so this is a short sad story about Road and her brother Tyki. -
Read and review!
Road stared at her hands with dislike. A bloody battle, that's what was going on. And it was all because she couldn't keep it in. All because she failed as she always would.
She let her hands fall to her sides, smearing the blood there. Her sanity was on the verge of collapsing as her small feet carried her into the whiteness of the blizzard.
One thing that she loved was the red on white, the contrast and the painful beauty of it. Another spill of red meant another life gone and another painting. Each one was different. Today it had been a slow oozing redness that came from the wound in the small boy's side. Other days it had been a splatter that stretched five feet around the body of the victim.
A silent tear ran down her cheek. She knew it was wrong yet it was impossible to break the ritual. The pain was almost unbearable as she wiped her bloodied hands in the snow. Her guilt was overwhelming. But who was there to tell her otherwise? Her parents no longer cared for her sadistic ways and no friend ever lasted long enough to say anything nice to her.
"Kill me," she whispered to the sky above her, "I want to die!" she continued, raising her voice, "I don't want to live like this anymore!"
"Don't say that…" A voice murmured. It was so quiet that Road wasn't sure if it was real, "Don't ask to lose your life."
"Why not?!" she cried, her tears falling more rapidly, "No one cares and no one wants me!"
"Are you sure of that?"
"My parents abandoned me and I can't help but kill all my friends. I'm a monster. Strike me down! Please!" her voice went up a few octaves in desperation.
She collapsed to her knees, her will to live failing her almost completely.
"Don't give up." The silky voice murmured, followed by a warm hand on her back, "Don't give into your depression."
Her breath caught in her throat as he pulled her toward him, embracing her. It was such a simple gesture and yet it warmed her heart to the point that she could stand steadily.
"Don't give in, Little One, you're not alone." He whispered, "And you're not unwanted."
Road broke down sobbing and clung to the man. He smiled kindly, picking her up.
"I've always wanted a little sister. What do you say to that, Rodo?" he asked, cradling her.
"th…thank you…" she whispered, hugging him back, "Thank you…" He chuckled as he began walking, disappearing into the eternal whiteness.
