Namine found someone rather curiously buried within Sora's heart. A boy, looking and sounding just like Roxas.
His name was Ventus, and as she rebuilt Sora, she learned more of him through memory.
Some days instead of working on Sora's memories she would examine Ventus's, delighted in how gentle, sweet, and optimistic the boy was. She loved how he cared for his friends, she loved his laugh and smile. Roxas wasn't quite as open with those delightful treasures.
Sometimes she would laugh aloud at the little jokes he told, imagine herself in others places when he was saying something absolutely lovely. She practically fooled herself into thinking they were friends, thinking that they had shared so many moments. Laughing with Isa and Lea, helping Cinderella with her dress, the list went on.
But his story, as she learned in bits and pieces, was not as happy as it seemed.
He was plagued with people exploiting him,
plagued with friendship falling apart,
plagued with the idea that he was raised as a key component to a thing that would destroy everything.
His depression pressed against her in an echo of emotion, and sometimes she drew him a happy memory to keep him from giving up his sleep for one that was more permanent. Often she would fix up one of Sora's happy memories and weave him into it, as an imaginary friend, a pretend older brother.
One day, after learning the whole truth of what he had gone through, Namine felt something wet streak down her cheek. She dismissed her pastels and wept for several moments, lamenting
"Heal, what has been hurt... Change the fate's design... Save what has been lost... Bring back..." She hiccuped "Bring back Ventus, Sora... Please..."
Wee for my first technical drabble! I saw this video on Youtube(tag this on the end: /watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=_Yx5zQTIQ1E) and oh my gosh the editing was beautiful and almost made me abandon ship with Namine/Roxas.
