Another request by tate310, this time it's "Terence the Tractor" from Season 1. Enjoy and comment.

Autumn had come to the Island of Sodor. The grass was changing from green to brown, and the leaves were falling off the trees.

Thomas the Tank Engine was puffing along his branch line when he saw a tractor. His name was Terrence.

"Hello!" he said. "I'm plowing!"

"I'm Thomas, and I'm pulling a train! What ugly wheels you got!"

"My wheels are called caterpillars." said Terrence. "I can go anywhere. I don't need rails.

"I like my rails!" said Thomas crossly.

Soon, it was winter. Lots of snow had fallen.

"I don't like winter!" said Thomas's driver. "There's way too much snow, and that could cause trouble!"

Thomas didn't care. He puffed along, feeling very confident.

They soon finished their journey safely, and Thomas felt very pleased.

But his mood soon changed.

"You'll need your snowplow for your next journey Thomas." said his driver.

"Snow is silly soft stuff! It won't stop me!"

The snowplow was very heavy and uncomfortable and made Thomas cross. He shook it, and he banged it, and when they got back, it was so damaged that the driver had to take it off.

This made Thomas's driver very cross as well.

"You are a very naughty engine for destroying your snowplow!" said the driver.

Next morning, Thomas's driver and fireman came early. They tried to mend the snowplow so it would fit Thomas more easily, but it wouldn't work.

Thomas was very pleased.

"I shan't have to wear it, I shan't have to wear it!" he puffed to Annie and Clarabel.

But they were very worried.

"I hope it's alright, I hope it's alright!" they whispered to each other.

The driver was worried too.

"It's not bad here!" he said to the fireman, "but it might be deeper in the valley!"

"Silly soft stuff!" puffed Thomas. "I didn't need that stupid snowplow anyways, not yesterday, not today, not ever again! Snow can't stop me!"

Then there was trouble. Thomas rushed into a tunnel thinking of how clever he was. Up ahead was a huge snowbank! The driver applied the brakes, but it was too late! Thomas crashed right into the snowbank!

"Cinders and ashes!" said Thomas. "I'm stuck!"

And he was.

"Go back Thomas!" called his driver.

Thomas tried to back up, but his wheels spun and he couldn't move!

The conductor went for help, while the passengers tried to dig the snow away.

But as fast as they dug, more snow came down. Soon, Thomas was covered from footplate to fender in snow.

"I'll have to stop here until I'm frozen! What a silly engine I am!" cried Thomas.

At last, a bus arrived to pick up Thomas's passengers, and then guess who came to Thomas's rescue? It was none other than Terrence the Tractor! Snow never worries him.

He pulled the empty coaches away quickly, then came back for Thomas.

Thomas's wheels were clear, but still spun when he tried to move.

With a lot of hard work, Terrence managed to drag Thomas out of the snow!

"Thank you Terrence!" said Thomas. "Your caterpillars are really useful!"

"I hope you've learned your lesson Thomas." said his driver.

"I'll try!" said Thomas as he puffed slowly away.
