Link narrowed his eyes as rain pelted him like darts. Normally the wind was kind to him. Normally the wind listened to him. Normally the sea was calm, if not unremarkably choppy. Normally the storms weren't as horrible as this. But not today. Yet today was supposed to be a momentous day where new life was spread and forests grew on this vast and empty ocean, today was supposed to be the day Link finished his first set of trials to save his sister.
Perhaps the sea had other plans as it remorselessly capsized the small sailing vessel.
Link was swept around in the cold, salty water like a leaf in the wind. He could occasionally see a shadow he hoped was King of Red Lions. He resurfaced with barely a gasp or cry. If there was anything in these journeys so far he'd learned, praising the gods the first chance you got didn't result in things resolving. He treaded water, coughing. The waves rolled on and on, callous to the small green and yellow lump in their midst.
"King?!" Link yelled, "KING?! KING OF RED LIONS?!" Link began madly paddling towards where he hoped he'd heard the boat. It was starting to get harder and harder to swim just as he saw a Gyorg fin swoop past his vision. Link swam as fast as he could, screaming in hopes he could find his boat again before he drowned or became shark bait, "HEEEY!" He swam backwards, faster and faster as he kept an eye on the toothy fish that was about to have his lunch-
Link was scooped out of the water by a set of familiar, chunky, wooden set of jaws. He collapsed on top of the wildly moving tiller, gasping for breath and clinging for dear life as the Gyorg rammed into the boat. Link's hands trembled as he set up the sail again, then sighed in thanks as the wind caught and monster soon gave up and turned tail elsewhere, "Thank Farore..."
"Are you alright?" King of Red Lions asked Link, "I'm sorry if I was-"
"No," Link swerved the boat off-course temporarily- apparently that goddess-damned Gyorg wasn't going to stop chasing him now that it'd gotten scent of a few wounds fresh from the Forbidden Woods, "no, thank you. Thank you so much for doing that." He laughed a little, "Still gotta get to those pirates at Windfall, right? Can't do that in something's stomach." He bit his lip as his smile faded, mulling over the fear and adrenaline still fresh in his veins. He then pulled out his sea chart as an island passed by, wrestling with the wind and rain to see where they were. Thinking nothing could hear him, he whispered, "...that was scary..."
Link couldn't see it, but the boat nodded, acknowledging the frightful encounter. Using the howling winds to his advantage, he muttered, "I pray to the gods I never have to hear you scream again..."
