Every time she saw his face, his beautiful green eyes, she felt like she was falling. Falling into a pit of emotions that would wrap her up and make her want to explode. And on a few occasions, she did, resulting in a mass detonation of all the electronics in the tower. So she locked herself away, avoiding as much interaction with him as possible. She didn't want to hurt him, but each day she spent confined in her room, away from him, she died a little inside. There were dozens of excuses she had come up with to evade the changeling. "I didn't feel like hearing his lame jokes," she had told Starfire when she asked why Raven had suddenly teleported from the room when Beast boy came in. "He's always bugging me when I need to meditate. It's the only way I can get rid of him," she had defended when Robin reprimanded her for using her powers to flick Beast Boy away. No one knew that each joke, while still horrendous, made her smile under her hood. They were completely lost on how her emotions (Love especially) grew out of control just by hearing his voice. All she said on how annoying he was and how much she hated him, were lies. Everything he did made her stomach scream. But she knew it wasn't meant to be. She was, as Beast Boy himself put it, creepy. Raven was destined to be all alone with only her emotions to keep her company. She was too dangerous, too dark. Malchoir had proved that, breaking her heart in the process. So she hid. She hid for years, and as time passed by, her hiding and running made her more alone and desolate. The pit seemed deeper and she hit the ground harder each time she fell. Then she stopped. No, he stopped her. He reached for her, and told her to stop. He told her that she was not meant to be alone, that she, like everyone else, needed someone to hold and depend on. He told her that he wanted to be that person. He caught her before she hit the ground for the last time. And for Raven, his grip never felt better.
