Summary: Sammy's crying and Mommy isn't here. A one-shot fanfic in one sentence. Dean's thoughts right after Mary's death.

AN: I'm trying out a new experiment with this one-sentence fic thing. Has this been done before? Anyway, sorry I haven't updated any of my fics in forever—I will get to them now that I'm done with school!...For now.

Big Boys Don't Cry

Sammy's crying and Mommy isn't here, and Dean doesn't know what to do because Daddy's crying and Mommy's not here anymore, but Dean has to be a big boy because Mommy told him to, and he's supposed to take care of Sammy because Daddy told him to, but Dean doesn't know what to do, so he doesn't feel like such a big boy (four-almost-five), and it's Thanksgiving and there's no pie and it can't be Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie (it's Dean's third-favorite pie; cherry's his mostest favorite and apple's after that), and there's no turkey and mashed 'tatoes and gravy because there's no dinner, and no lunch or breakfast either, and there's a funny feeling inside of his tummy, like there's always been ever since Mommy went away in the big fire, and Daddy can't do anything to make it better, because he's crying and smells funny and tells Dean not to bother him, and Sammy's too little and he's crying too anyway, so Dean sits on the bed with Sammy in his arms and tries to make him stop crying because he's the big brother and Sammy's the little brother, and he's supposed to take care of him because Mommy and Daddy said so when Sammy came home from the baby store (where they make babies so that big boys and girls can be big brothers and sisters, just like Dean), and Dean's supposed to make Sammy better and stop crying because he's the big brother, so he hugs Sammy tight and kisses his soft baby hair that still smells a little bit like Mommy and a whole lot like baby Sammy, and he tries not to cry, even though he misses Mommy and he's scared that Daddy'll leave him just like she did, like how he maybe already has, so he holds on to Sammy tight so that his little brother won't ever leave him and promises him, "I'm gonna take care of you 'cause it's my job," and he doesn't cry because he's a big boy and he wants to make Mommy proud of him, and maybe she'll come back if he's a good big brother.
