Just wanted to try writing some angst. Not much else to say here.

Disclaimer: I don't own Final Fantasy VII or any of the characters mentioned, SQUARE-ENIX does.

Enjoy!

. . .Twisted. . .

He hears nothing.

Yet he hears everything.

He sees nothing.

Yet he sees everything.

He feels nothing.

But he feels everything.

. . .bloodied. . .mangled. . .

He breathes.

But he doesn't live.

The boy is here.

Man.

The man with the fragile heart of a boy.

That's how he sees him. That's how he'll always see him. As nothing but a boy.

So long as his sins resided in his heart like the shadow that forever followed him. . .

He stops. Waits. Stands in silence.

. . .deranged. . .dead. . .

There is nothing but quiescence as he sits and the boy stands.

Absolutely nothing.

He doesn't know how long he's there, be it minutes, hours, or days.

. . .cold. . .

Every now and then he'd catch an occasional glimpse of the boy on the crystal's surface.

Time hasn't touched him.

He lives his life ultimately submerged in inertia.

Just like himself. . .

What they fail to realize (or maybe they just don't want to realize) is that the biggest sin of all . . .is leading their lives half-lived, because it is all it will ever be. . .

Half-lived.

But, the boy knows, that is the only reason why he is here.

Lucrecia's smile haunts them both as they watch . . .as they breath air that feels like poison.

He knows.

He knows what it's like, to live when he should be dead. . .he knows what it's like to fight when there is nothing left to fight for. . .he knows what it's like to love. . .and have his heart torn right out of his chest. . .

Cloud understands.

He understands that not all stories end with Happily Ever After.
