Sorry Cake
Tomoki loved getting covered in flour.
It was a silly little thing, really. Before, it was just so he could act like a kid and be with his mother in the kitchen, even if he made more of a mess than he helped. But he got pretty good at baking. Something Yutaka seemed to attribute to "sucking up" – because the two brothers would have some sort of silent squabble and Yutaka would wind up missing out on deliciously warm cake while Tomoki took the first slice. Though he probably went and fetched himself a cold piece later.
But after the digital world, it was Tomoki baking by himself (because he'd had a lot of practise with the Burgermon and didn't need his mum making sure he didn't burn himself) and for others. For his friends because it was so much fun baking and watching them make content faces as they ate – and watching Izumi and Takuya glare at each other for the last piece and for Kouji to swipe it and share half with Kouichi.
And it wasn't necessarily fun, but still a nice feeling, to knock on Yutaka's bedroom door and offer him the first slice and show him he's not an immature brat any more and that he's all grown up.
Not too grown up for cake though, and when Yutaka tells him to bring two pieces and the chess board next time, he's happy to comply. Though he does find himself wishing Yutaka could just say he accepted the apology – or apologise himself if he felt so inclined.
