Every second was pure agony. Every breath of air was temptation burning his throat like angry wildfire: unstoppable. The pain slowly lifted every day, but after years of resistance and little progress, Jasper's patience was wearing thin. He didn't want to stay at the house while the others went to school and experienced life like a human. He missed being human and he wanted to at least pretend to be a part of their world.

She was his anchor. When he wanted to run away and just give up she grounded him. He could feel her emotions of care and affection and love encompass him and he was home. The house he lived in with his "family" was nothing. His "family" was nothing. Alice was everything. She looked out for him more than he looked out for himself. She held him when he felt as if he would fall apart. Somehow, her eyes reflected how she saw him and he finally saw himself.

Their relationship was based on emotion, small looks and a soft touch. Emmett and Rosalie's was held together by pure lust. Bella and Edward's was obsession. All of that would fade somewhere in forever, but Jasper and Alice would always remain. When he thought about her, she was there in an instant. When he was drowning she pulled him to the shore. What did Jasper do for her? He didn't know. He tried to give her everything. He gave his body and soul. He gave her a shoulder when the future was too painful. Although it wasn't enough in his mind, it was enough to stick them together like glue.

He thanked her by twirling her hair in his fingers. She said "You're welcome," by nuzzling against him. His love was shown through embraces and feather soft kisses. He gave her the most pleasurable emotions he could summon in his wild imagination. She always looked at him with such trusting eyes.

Sometimes, Alice had urges that Jasper would pick up on. He could bring her to a climax with just a thought. She could do him the same favor with one touch. They were so different and yet so alike: two halves of a whole. When they were apart, she bubbled over with energy and happiness while he held in his pain and his love. When they were together, their emotions were in tandem. They fit together like puzzle pieces and formed a bigger picture.

When they made love, their shape was indefinable. The air held waves of emotion and everything they wanted to be wasn't tangible. They were one being, one particle, one molecule. They became something no one else could understand. No other vampire had every felt anything like it before. The Cullens didn't comprehend it. Not even Carlisle and Esme could understand. Alice had found Jasper. Their future had been decided. Jasper was a monster, so different from the ever hopeful Alice. But they connected. He dropped everything for her.

The world ceased to exist without her. She was his anchor.
