Pillow Talk
Thin fingers caressed his skin, running across his ribs.
Metal fingertips brushed his cheek; he shivered slightly under the cold touch.
"I was so stupid to nominate you for that mission," he said as he pulled the slightly smaller man closer. "You'll be away now for three weeks, minimum."
"Then give it to someone else," the blonde said as his metal fingertips brushed a lock of dark hair from his lover's face.
"I can't, it's too late now," he replied.
"So come with me, tell everyone you're taking a vacation and come with me."
The desperation in his voice was evident. He didn't want to leave him behind.
"Please," he said.
The begging was the final straw. He had to go with him, he had to give in.
"Roy," Ed mumbled as he pulled himself closer to the older man. "Come with me." He punctuated his sentence with a fierce kiss.
"I'm not promising anything," Roy said as he gently pulled the Fullmetal Alchemist away from him so he could look into his big golden eyes, wide with what could only be described as fear. Roy leaned in and kissed him softly. "I'll see what I can do."
And as the night went on, neither spoke of the impending mission again. The spoke of inconsequential things, like the weather in the East, and how Riza had trained Black Hayate to respond to gunfire, how Havoc was continuing to disgrace the military with his loose morals. They talked about Al and Winry, they talked about Falman and Furey being transferred to the West. They talked about Glacia Hughes and Elicia, how big she was getting, how much like Maes she looked.
Slowly, they stopped talking. Edward closed his eyes and after a few minutes, his breathing deepened.
Roy watched the soldier and sighed.
"I love you," he whispered to the younger alchemist. "With all my heart, for all my life." He kissed the top of Edward's head.
"Until my heart stops beating, it's yours," Edward replied as he pulled Roy's face into his own, sealing his proclamation with a kiss.
