"I don't get it, Alice - I really don't, okay?" Tasha found herself asking. It was frustrating. Cute, maybe - still frustrating through. "I mean... I'm going along with it I guess, but..."

"But what? What is so hard to understand about dressing up in snooty outfits and playing mini golf on the weekend to let off a little steam and have a good time? It's, well, you know, it's..." She trailed off.

"It's what?" Tasha asked, trying -valiantly- not to smile.

"You know: fun? Entertaining? That kind of thing...?" She trailed off expectantly.

"Uh-huh, but... mini golf? The polo shirt... the bowtie? Alice... you're wearing a bowtie." She shook her head a little and couldn't hold back the smile anymore.

"Bowties are cool." Alice replied seriously.

"Who even says that?" Tasha replied.

"Doctor Who." Alice replied.

"...Uh, right, and who's, um, who's that again?" Tasha asked.

"You know... police box... British time traveling guy from Gallifrey or something. It's a whole thing. Never mind. It's funny if you watched the show. Which we should sometime. We totally should sometime." Alice told her. "It's, you know... it's a good show."

"Uh-huh." Tasha replied. "Well, it does look surprisingly good on you, I guess." She wasn't completely sure she believed that, but it seemed like she should say it anyway.

"...See? Right. Exactly." Tasha told her, kissing her softly and lingeringly a moment. "And, you know... like I said: it's fun, and, um... ironic or something?" She ventured.

"So, this is like you, what... channeling Bette Porter now? Mini golf performance art? Is that what this is?" Tasha asked, doubting it.

"Sure, lets go with that." Alice replied.

Tasha just shook her head again and smiled... maybe a little shyly. Alice did stuff like this. She suspected partly because she found it amusing to get her out of her comfort zone sometimes. And... well, she'd come to appreciate that. Some. She just... wasn't really sure she liked that it sort of made her feel like... like a project or something sometimes. She didn't think Alice necessarily meant it that way, but...

"Alight, so, yeah, total bullshit. I just like to spoof stuffy rich people sometimes, think you'd look hot in a polo shirt and a short skirt, and I want to get you drunk off froofy cocktail drinks at a froofy cocktail drinks bar afterwards so I can take you home and... you know, take advantage of your virtue. Is that so wrong?"

Tasha found herself laughing. She tried not to, but by this point it was completely a lost cause.

"Yeah, okay... fine." She finally said. "Just... next weekend... we're staying at home, watching a movie, taking a walk in a park, having lunch with friends... being completely boring people. Deal?"

Alice got this very sweet, completely genuine smile on her lips that made her eyes look like all kinds of amazing things with no names whatsoever that Tasha could think of at this moment...

"Yeah, deal. That is totally a deal." Alice said and moved in close and they held each other for a while.

"You know I'm in love with you, right?" Tasha told her.

"Yeah..." Alice replied, sounding a little romance movie dreamy. That, this all, was apparently the mood she was in today. Not that it was a bad thing, because really... it wasn't.

"Because under no other circumstances would I be doing anything like this." Tasha continued.

"I know." Alice replied, kissing her neck.

Tasha closed her eyes and smiled.

One nice, slow, very romance movie-like make out session later, they got their things together and left.

Off to play mini golf.

It was inexplicable. Really it was.

But... relationships were about compromise. And mini golf was a part of that sometimes, apparently.
