Once upon a time…
Who cares? Ends all the same. Some bright eyed pair falling in love and rushing off to some sugary sweet happily ever after. The part not mentioned is the climax of the story is already done and the ever after ends up safe and boring.
But, there is another kind of story. The kind that dwells in darkness. And if there is light...it is more like fire.
A love story that burns most brightly in the dark.
About a sea witch and her first mate.
The first mate is Harry Hook. A pirate who teeters on the edge of insanity. Who has a true taste for evil. He is only kept anchored by one person. A strange choice since he is the son of a Captain. He is ruthless and capable of being a fearsome leader. Striving to be the number one in all he does. With one exception. Her.
The sea witch is Uma. She has power that could rock the ocean floor. And ambition to free herself from all bonds that would hold her back. Her allure isn't a spell. She inspires fear and fierce loyalty from those around her. Fear except from one. Him.
If you notice how Harry looks at Uma, there is no going back. There is no doe-eyed school boy in the way he looks at his Captain. He stares unwavering, as if he just found the person who saved him from drowning. Or the person he wouldn't mind drowning him. With eyes as wild as the sea they travel. Past mere obsession. More than adoration. Not just loyalty. Every gesture he does is for her. Every word he says has her in mind. Her name from his lips sounds like a priceless treasure and temptation itself. His darkness craves to be lit up by her fire. Right or wrong doesn't matter. As long as she is there.
Uma isn't unaware. She relishes in him. Trusts him. And is as loyal. She is unfazed by his darkness and understands it. Reeling him back when he could lose himself. There is something that doesn't have to be spoken. As vast as the night sky full of stars reflecting on the ocean.
No beginning and no end.
This is the tale of Uma and Harry.
