Only Julia
By Rainmusic
There are some truths that are undeniable; some things that are unquestionable.
The sky on Mars is red, meteors pelt the Earth everyday, Jet used to work for the ISSP.
Spike loves Julia.
But just because something's true doesn't mean I understand it. And what I'll never understand is why Spike loves Julia.
Maybe they met in that lonely period of his life. That time in everyone's life when they were tired, vulnerable. She was there when he needed someone the most and he loved her for it. Maybe if they had met later things would be different. If she had met him years after, the time I met him. Then, maybe they wouldn't have fallen in love.
But that can't be true.
Jet once repeated what Spike told him about Julia to me. Sentimental phrases like "my other half, the one I'd lost somewhere along the way" don't sound like the Spike I know. I guess that's how I know they're true. He was always a completely different person when it came to Julia.
But the Julia Jet tells me about isn't the one I met. Spike's Julia was kind, gentle, good. That's not the woman I met. What happened to her in those years without Spike, to make her as jaded as me?
When he left, that last time, did he ever see her again? Was she the same person he'd met, years ago? Did he still love her? Maybe by that time, he'd already climbed out of the vulnerable place and when he did, there was someone else there; someone who'd been right in front in his face the whole time...
No. Spike loves Julia. Only Julia.
There are some truths that are undeniable; some things that are unquestionable. And there are times when asking questions only hurts more.
It's no use asking questions when the only three people who could have answered them are dead.
"Faye Faye!"
"Faye, you gotta see this."
"Hey Faye. What, no welcome-back hug?"
Disclaimer: Cowboy bebop is not mine.
An: Just a little drabble, with a bored Faye wondering about the relationship between Vicious, Spike, and Julia.
