"They are ready for you now Agent Burke"

Peter looked up and responded to the man with a small smile and some quick words. It was the moment of truth, the big decision that would decide Neal's upcoming future. Neal, his CI, his partner, and most importantly someone he had come to consider as a friend. He knew that his words would be considered the most and has the most weight today. Just as he went to turn to go up the steps he noticed a group of people coming towards him. It was Kramer.

It was then that he confirmed how he felt about what they should do for Neal. But seeing the man he had known for such a long time walk up to him the way he was now, he knew deep down the statement Kramer made wasn't a fluke as much as he wanted it to be. Kramer was determined and nothing Peter could say would change his mind. No matter how much Peter saw the good in Neal, Kramer wasn't going to see it. He was too hurt at what his own CI had done and now felt that Neal was a threat to Peter. A threat that Peter felt wasn't one at all. He knew Caffrey better than anybody and sometimes felt he understood Neal more than Neal understood himself. At that moment while Kramer stated how he would do anything to get Neal locked away for good he felt hurt. Not only that but he also noticed he was angry at Kramer, the man he had looked up to for all these years. Someone who he thought would be able to help give him the guidance needed earlier this year when he was suspicious of Neal. Now he regretted that decision. Now more than ever he wished he could make Kramer see what he was doing. Make him see what he saw in Neal, a man who wanted to change.

While Kramer stated his plan to get rid of Neal Peter saw the man of their "chat" walking by on the street. Peter locked eyes on Neal as the young con man stopped in his tracks in worry. Peter shook his head at the young man, hoping to get his message across. A small group of people walked by, passing in front of Neal, blocking him momentarily from view. In a matter of seconds they had passed and Neal was gone. It was like he had faded away. His message had gone through.

After Peter gave his parting words to Kramer he walked up the steps, knowing deep down that in the end he wanted Neal to be free. Free to live his own life, but with the people near him who cared about him the most… Mozzie, June, Sara, Diana, Jones, Elizabeth, and most importantly himself. He just hoped that somehow, some way, sometime hopefully in the near future that Neal would be able to get that chance at having that freedom.

AN: Hope you liked it. Now R&R…..Please?
