She knows about the kiss.

It's something she's repressing, a bad memory, and tries to carry on with the farce that was her life. Her boyfriend loves her, her roommate tolerates her, and there's nothing going on between the two.

She doesn't believe it any more than anyone else would.

He tries though; she can't say that he doesn't. Sweet kisses and pretty flowers before he tells her that he promised someone else that he would do something for them. He hasn't told her his new schedule for work either, which makes planning around it slightly more complicated. She can just imagine that he's not really there. That he's with the other blonde in his life and they're doing things that she hasn't gotten the chance to as of late.

She tells herself it's just her luck.

In her family she wasn't the one that was supposed to get the epic love and fairytale romance.

She can't seem to find a man that's willing to love her for more then a moment.

It's not like this is the first time. Her first love was built on a multitude of lies, mostly her own, and then the second time around it was like trying to fit a circle block into a square hole. There was too much missing for her or him to salvage. She still hears from him occasionally, filming in Canada. His emails contain pictures of backdrops and antidotes of the people he's met. She's just glad he's happy.

Her second grand love was so much different then the first. He was a nice man, driven mad by circumstance and his love for her. She still remembers the way he professed his love for her even as he was coming for her. He loved her to death, almost literally, and she can't help but feel sorry for the fact that she didn't love him back. The nightmares that he caused are almost all gone now, and she finds that she can actually say his name now.

This love was supposed to be it for her. He was the perfect man and they had already defied so many odds together.

He kisses her on the forehead and sinks into the couch and she can't help but feel like yet again she's second place to someone who's everything she's not.

She knows that the phrase 'one and only' doesn't apply to her anymore.

She's losing him.

And with her track record, she's almost afraid to care.
