Their blood had always gotten in the way of any connection between them. It would have been lovely, Rose thought, to have been together. Both of them were the envy of the school; good looks, incredible grades, and many friends. It was hard for Rose not to notice Scorpius whenever she saw him. The way his scent wafted in the air when he walked by, all sugar and wind; the way his hair glittered like gold in the sun; the way his face lit up at the sight of a challenge, and the way it remained so arrogantly indifferent when he failed. Everything about him was intoxicating, she had thought.

But she had no idea just how intoxicating he could really be.

The day their parent's had met again, in the end of her seventh year, was a day she would not forget. She remembered the look on her mum and dad's faces when they had laid eyes upon Draco and Astoria Malfoy. She had never seen so much hatred. It had hurt when all four pairs of eyes had turned towards her and Scorpius, and Draco Malfoy had said, "Scorpius, get away from her." His voice had implied so much hatred, and this time it was for her. And the way Rose's parents had reacted; she and Scorpius only needed to share one glance before they both knew where they stood. In that gaze it became apparent that rebellion was in order. It was time to settle the blood wars in the most horrible and enchanting way possible.

They fell in love.

The subtle way in which they had become entwined struck her, not as cautious, but as something akin to disbelief. It was scary and hypnotic in a way not unpleasant. After being so brazen as to kiss in front of their parents, something changed in them. It was not just the fact that their love was forbidden; Rose was truly and completely intoxicated.

It became a connection, a true contentment. It was just a bonus that it screamed, "Dare me to stop!" at their parents outraged faces.
