Author's note: This is a short little one shot I thought of while thinking about the Season Two finale. This is based on what think might happen in the finale. I am not an Azula fan but I thought it would be nice to write a story that has a different prospective on Azula dying. I hope you enjoy!

Never too Late

Rain began to fall from the darkened sky as Zuko stared down at his sister Azula, her now lifeless body lay on the ground out side a building in the city of Ba Sing Se. She was killed by the Avatar after he went into the Avatar State.

The banished prince knew he had made the right choice not to join Azula and if he could do all over again he still would make the same choice. Azula had been insane there was no way around that.

He knew she would have killed him in a instant. With no remorse what so ever, but still he could remember a time when they had not been enemies. They were never friends but at a time when they were once, just brother and sister.

Back before his father became Fire Lord, before his mother disappeared protecting him. Before his fateful duel that left him scarred and miserable. Zuko had faint memories of him and Azula playing in the palace garden together.

Zuko never really liked his sister, he had always been envious of her bending abilities and her closeness to their father. Still he never imagined seeing her like this. He always thought about how much better life would be without her. But seeing Azula's motionless body before him, it was different.

Lost in thought Zuko did not notice the Water siblings and Toph coming up behind him while his uncle came from somewhere else. Then the Avatar landed beside them. The rain began to slow but did not cease.

Iroh went up and put his hand on Zuko's shoulder.

"It is for the best" Iroh whispered to his nephew.

As Zuko looked down at his sister, the prince's face was emotionless. Zuko stood perfectly still and did not say anything. All these years how Azula had tortured him, all this time she had chased him and now its over, for good.

"Zuko what are you…" Sokka started to say but was cut off by Aang.

"Let him be" Aang said sorrowfully, "someone's death should never be taken lightly especially for someone like Azula."

"The young Avatar is right" Iroh said shaking his head sadly "I always told Zuko it is never to late too change, but now for Azula it is ."

Note: This did not effect the production of my other story
