New Girl in Town
Prologue - Just Starting Out
Rewriting it.
"Isa! Isa!"
I awoke to the sound of my mother calling. As I sat up from my bed, she rushed through my bedroom door so fast, and harsh, it could have gotten pulled off its hinges.
"Isa, honey, we need to get out of here." Vivian was panicking, as though they had limited time to talk.
"What? Why?" Isabella was worried. What happened last night?
"Just hurry up! Your father will be home in two hours!"
"But why?" asked Isabella, curiously.
"Just come on! There's no time to waste!".
"I'm not going to move until you tell me why."
Vivian sighed. "Let's go; pack up!"
"Fine; give me a sec."
Fifteen minutes later, Vivian was standing by the door when Isabella came downstairs with three suitcases.
"Get in the car!" Vivian demanded.
Once they were driving, Vivian started talking.
"Isa, what I'm about to tell you will one hundred percent leave you shocked." She took a deep breath.
"You see, Isa..." she paused, "...your father is abusive. Five years ago, we got into a fight so bad that I almost died. Last year, we secretly divorced, and you didn't know. I gained custody of you, and your father didn't like that, so we're fighting again."
Isabella didn't seem the least bit shocked. In fact, she'd expected this topic to pop up sooner or later.
But she couldn't say that. "Where are we going?" she asked, instead.
"Danville," Vivian replied.
"Wait a minute," Isabella quickly turned to face Vivian, "Danville? As in Danville, Tri-State Area?"
"That's correct."
"B-b-b-b-but."
Isabella's POV
"Here we are, hija!" my mother exclaimed. "This is Danville!"
I looked around. There were plenty of tall buildings, and plenty of houses, just the perfect ratio. I could see a purple building shaped like an 'F' in the distance, and even farther from that, I saw flashes of red and green on top of what looked to be a rollercoaster.
A question crossed my mind.
"Mama, where are we going to live?" I asked.
"Maple Drive, the most popular suburban street in Danville." she replied.
"W-"
"Why is it the most popular? Because of Phineas and Ferb, of course!" Vivian interrupted her with the same question she was going to ask.
Where have I heard those names before? I pondered. Oh yeah; Phineas and Ferb, the world's youngest engineers. I don't really believe it though. How can two fifteen year-olds build rollercoasters and bounce parks in their backyard. Whatever. I'm pretty sure I can do that, too. I'm fifteen; maybe we can become friends.
I don't know when Mom called a taxi, but she did, and it was right in front of us.
"Let's go; I've been waiting here for five minutes!" The cranky driver shouted at us.
Mom stepped up, clearly angry. "Excuse me, but we just got here a minute ago!" she yelled at him.
"Whatever; just get in the damn car," the driver grumbled, trying not to admit defeat.
"You need to make new friends, hija." Vivian told me.
"Yeah, I know," I replied, "but we just got here."
This was my new home. It had a hot tub in the backyard, too.
"Why don't you get some sleep?" Vivian suggested. "It's 10:00 PM; it's been a long day. We'll sort this out in the morning.
"Mkay, good night, Mama.
"Good night, hija."
I have a feeling tomorrow won't be good at all.
Stay tuned for chapter 2..in….five months, or something like that…
Let's start fresh with a new sign-off.
