I'm baa-aack! Okay, so I'm watching this How to Train Your Dragon movie, and, am I the only one that totally LOVED the character of Hiccup? The only thing was that I thought Astrid was all wrong for him. I could create a WAY more convincing love interest for the adorkable Hiccup. One that would share his soft spot for dragons. And as I was browsing the fanfics, there are very, very few that pair Hiccup with an OC, so I figured I may as well contribute. So, this is my attempt. Oh, and, you probably know this, but I don't own How to Train Your Dragon, or Hiccup (but I wish I did! Who's with me?), so don't sue me, okay? Here goes! Okay, the first chapter's is in third person, just so I can introduce the OC. After that, it's going to be from her perspective. Oh, something else! It starts out right after Hiccup starts training Toothless, and it'll probably go until some time after the actual events of the movie. Pretty AU.

"Lad?"

Hiccup cringed as he heard the lilting voice of Gobber call from within his shop.

"Eh, where ye goin' in such a hurry?"

"Um..." Hiccup needed to come up with an excuse, and fast. He looked around for inspiration. Shop... blacksmith... metal... Metal! "I'm going to go check out this mine in the valley. Y'know, to find some metal... for the shop... and... yeah." He held his breath.

"All right, as long as yer back before dinner. I want to test the new grill an' flip extension fer me hand."

Hiccup let out a sigh of relief. This sneaking out thing was easier than you'd expect. He walked through the woods toward the valley where Toothless resided.

When he was about half way through the woods, he heard a cracking noise, like someone stepping on a twig. He spun on his heel, only to come face to face with... Toothless? The great black dragon appeared to have materialized in front of a large pine tree.

"What're you doing here, boy?" he asked, scratching the Night Fury behind the... er... ear flap. Then he heard laughter. A soft, tinkling sort of laughter, followed by a rustle of leaves. Just then, a girl came bounding around the base of the tree, only to crash head on into Hiccup.

She screamed shrilly, clearly startled. Which, in turn, caused Hiccup to trip over a rock, tumbling backward onto the forest floor. The girl clambered to the front of the dragon, leaned against the tree and said, "Dragon? Ha! W-what dragon? Who said anything about a dragon?"All the while, trying to block his view the dragon with her body – a difficult feat, as she couldn't have been any taller than 4'10", by the looks of things. Giving up the charade, she held out her hand to Hiccup.

He took it, and, with a bit of effort, she got him back on his feet.

"Hi," she said. "Let's try this again. I'm Olga. Care to explain how you know this dragon?

How am I doing so far? Next chapter: Hiccup and Olga swap dragon stories, and we get a glimpse of Olga's history, and maybe how the heck Astrid is going to fit into all of this. Review, please! It helps me write faster, honest! Be truthful, but nice. No haters, 'kay?
