Ahhh, another day another dollar!

Oak had just finished with his last "customer" of the day and was putting away all the empty Pokeballs that had, until recently, held the Pokemon he had just sold off.

Yes, he advertised it as giving away the Pokemon for free, but who would be foolish enough to believe that? Those who couldn't pay didn't get a Pokemon. After all, it's not as if the finer things in life were free!

Just as the cheapskate professor was about to lock up for the day, a child of about 10 years of age burst in, still dressed in his pajamas! "A late customer? Ah well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to make a few extra bucks off this kid." Oak thought to himself.

"Professor! Sorry I'm late, my alarm didn't go off!" Oak recognized the young lad as his grandson's friend, Ash. "Not a problem Ash, I suppose you're here to get your very first Pokemon?" "You bet! Where are they at?" Eager young fellow. Oak pointed over to the Pokeballs still sitting out on the table. Ash opened each one, only to find they had already been chosen. "Professor, all of these are empty… Don't you have one little Pokemon left?"

"Well… There is one…" This was how the Pokemon professor drew in his customers… Guilting them into buying! How ingenious! "But it's a special one, I couldn't part with it ever!" after a pause and a look of disappointment from Ash "But, for you, I suppose I could give it to you, for a price." Ash looked even more desolate. "Well gee, professor, I don't have any money…"

No money?! Well then this was a waste of Oak's time! He ought to throw the little brat out! The nerve of this kid, why he should just – But wait… Upon thinking about it for a moment, Oak remembered Ash had a lovely woman for a mother… He had never been able to get close to her since she was always taking care of the brat!

Ah, what a beautiful lady she was. What was her name again? Delia Ketchum, that's right! She excited Oak in more ways than one, and he hadn't been excited by anything in a long time. Being the Pokemon professor was a lonely and tedious business, he could do with some fun for a change! And what better way to have some fun than with a woman like Delia? Now then, to get rid of the boy…

"Hey Ash, is your mother still single?" "Well yeah, but what's that got to do with anything, professor?" "Never you mind. Here, take my Pikachu. In return for me so generously giving you this Pokemon, I need you to do me a favor." "Oh boy! Anything, professor." "Here, take this Pokedex and go out into the world and gather as much information on Pokemon as you possibly can! Oh, and take the Elite Four challenge while you're at it!" "Gee professor, thanks a bunch!" And with that the kid ran off with his new Pokemon and Pokedex out into the world without a care.

"And now, to console the mother of her sadness over her child leaving the nest… Heeheeheeheeheeheehee…."

And with that, our story begins.
