AN: New story! It's odd to say the Charlie storyline inspired me, we all know she's crazy so I decided to write it how I wanted. Takes place after 4x19-4x20 right when Charlie told Vanessa that she did everything on purpose, so 4x21 didn't happen yet! I dunno how to feel about this. It could be my gateway back into writing or the straw that breaks the camels back. Review to let me know to continue or squash it.
"I think you know why I did all of this. It just hurt to know that Vanessa wanted you so much that she would risk my chances with you. She knew how I felt."
Dan looked at Charlie with a shocked manner. He couldn't believe she basically, flat out, said she was head over heels for him. He would never cross that line because it was Serena's cousin. There was just somethings you knew to leave alone.
"I just did this all so you would notice me."
"I notice you." Dan placed his hand on her leg.
"As Serena's cousin, not as anything more." Charlie's eyes studied the floor.
"Look Charlie, I've been in one bad relationship to the next as of late. I don't need to drag you into this."
"I just never met a guy like you before."
Dan gazed into Charlie's eyes. She had tears slowly forming. He hated seeing girls cry, especially if he was the cause of it. He took in a deep sigh and the next sentence escaped his lips before his mind had a chance to think it over.
"What if we go slow?"
"You mean it?" Charlie suddenly had a cheery disposition.
"Yeah, I mean I have to respect Serena, but we can see how things go." Charlie masked her eye roll by giving Dan a hug.
Charlie made her way into the coffee shop. The second she spotted Vanessa her mood changed. She was so close to getting a happy ending, a few lose ends wouldn't bring her down.
"You're done for."
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me, every story needs a villain." Charlie replied straightening her back.
"Clearly it's you."
"Yes, but we need someone Dan can believe is awful. With your track record it shouldn't be hard."
"We've been friends for..."
"Years, I know. But I overheard your little fight and it seems it ended the friendship." Charlie displayed a smug smirk.
"Oh and one more thing, if you tell anyone, I'll just deny it." Charlie turned her back on Vanessa and walked away.
Vanessa was left their stunned that Dan was going to get caught up in this scheme with a crazy girl. More importantly that her best friend wasn't going to believe her. She knew there was only one person she could call. Vanessa dug her phone out of her purse and began dialing. Her fingers moved to fast for her mind to even think up what to say. What if she didn't believe Vanessa? Why would she help her?
"Hey it's me...No don't hang up." Vanessa tried to reason.
"What do you want?"
"I need your help. It's about Dan."
"Why should I help? Dan and I don't talk."
"After all you two have been through, you owe him this."
"Is he in trouble?"
"He will be."
AN: Yeah I know it's short, but we have to build something before I get too into this, right?
