Mistakes We Make

Mistakes we make, intentional or not, tend to affect us for a long time. Guilt caused by some haunt us for the rest of our lives, and impact the people around us too.

15 years ago. It has been fifteen years since he stepped foot on Denmark, while his rank was Corporal.

He was rash. He was not professional enough. He wasn't experienced enough.

He barely knew penguin politics, nevermind puffin politics.

His name is Skipper. He wasn't leader material at that time.

He did many regrettable actions during his early days as a recruit & a private. Many said he was immature and unable to comprehend huge concepts unlike his teammates Manfredi and Johnson. Skipper was the youngest, and the least intelligent.

Skipper tend to be bold and daring. He wasn't afraid to meet new people, talk with them, train or fight with/against him.

His problem at that time - he was too bold. He sometimes came up with plans without fully realizing the situation he was in. He said things without understanding who he was talking to.

His lack of maturity also contributed to lack of understanding his context and surrounding. Sometimes he talked to superior penguins in a very informal tone - a distinct act of insubordination, punishable by penguin rules.

He didn't understand how puffins' organizations in Denmark worked. So when Skipper's team was sent to work with puffins in Denmark, Skipper did a terrible, foolish mistake.

On that day, many puffins were hurt - mostly not physically, rather, emotionally.

Due to his insensitive actions, Skipper was chased out of the country. He was given a warning chance by puffins. The next time he stepped back into Denmark, he was guaranteed imprisonment by animals there, Or worse.

Many puffins had forgiven him or forgotten about his mistake there. (As long as he promised to have learnt his mistake, never stepped into Denmark and matured intellectually)

One never did.

The One held a terrible grudge against Skipper.

The One indirectly ended Manfredi and Johnson's life, in vengeance.

The One took Skipper's beloved first mentors away from him.

The One was after now-captain Skipper's current team.

"Well boys," Skipper began. "Today as part of mission week, I'm going to teach you a very important lesson. Mistakes we make, whether intentional or not, tend to affect us for a long time. It could be guilt that haunts us for our lives. It could be enemies we make through that mistake - enemies that want revenge and their twisted definition of justice. And many of times, in our line of work, our mistakes affect our teammates."

The One was Hans.

Don't do something that you'll regret in the future.

'Will your actions cause you, your family and your loved ones to suffer?'

Think carefully before you act.

Hope you guys understood! The dialogue in italics by Skipper is about him talking to Private, Rico and Kowalski, just before he starts to tell the story behind Denmark to them. Of course, that mission is always classified ;) Sorry if the story is too short or you didn't comprehend at all. Wrote this in less than an hour.
