Just to show everyone how a writer's mood at the time they are writing can affect the story. I normally write humorous stories, and I realize how long it's been since I've posted a fanfic. I'm sorry to those who read my other stories but it may be awhile before you see something new. I just read this particular story over today and realized maybe I should post it. Yes there is character death - pretty much all of them. You have been warned, I would not like to see any comments saying "How can you do this?". I am a huge fan of Max Ride and I wouldn't normally write anything like this. But it's new and I think it's pretty good and I did write it awhile ago. So, if you're fine with character death, enjoy. If you're not, oh well.

I'd Die to be Normal

Death came slowly to each of them. They simply couldn't handle living anymore. The stress of the entire thing just caused them to crumble. Everything went downhill; Itex came back stronger than ever. You could tell that they were set on getting revenge. Once the almighty flock was gone, nothing would stop them. People ran in terror; fleeing from ashes and inhuman machines. Life on Earth was no longer possible. Everything just ceased to live.

I never knew how they did it; I never wanted to know for that matter. Maximum Ride grew soft and became accustomed to the life of luxury. The kids lived without fear of Erasers or Flyboys, assuming that they were all gone. Had Max not allowed herself to give into the various pleas of a 'normal' life, she would have sensed danger brewing. Nobody ever noticed the rebuilding of Itex.

The end of the world entered every person's life faster than a speeding bullet. Various monsters and creations roamed every inch of the Earth's surface, seeking out targets to destroy. No 'normal' humans were permitted to exist on this 'new' planet. No imperfections were allowed. This was an all out killing spree. Yet the Director never saw the harm it posed to the ecosystem. Genetically mutated beings replaced all human life. Nothing was ever 'normal' again.

The Flock was so busy being 'normal', that none of them could have stopped the by-half plan. None of them could save the world. None of them could save themselves. Their lives were reduced to hiding in places so remote that, hopefully, death could not reach them. Sadly, there was no hope left in any corner of the globe. First was Angel, Gazzy was soon to go afterwards. Crushed, Iggy attempted to kill himself and while Nudge tried so hard to stop him, she inadvertently caused her own end too. Max and Fang knew that life would soon come to an end for them too; therefore, they decided never to let the other do anything remotely stupid. The sight of a decapitated Ella and Dr. Martinez, caused Max to become hysterical. Her own biological family was torn away from her.

They'd gone too far in Max's mind and, despite her promise to Fang, she went straight into the field of battle. She fought and fought and fought without stopping. Killing anything that moved, sadly, that included the end of Fang.

Once she made it to the place that started all of the commotion, right when she was about to kill the Director, Max collapsed on the floor. Dead. The barcode on her neck marked her end forever.

And if they had never tried to be normal, none of this would have happened. Being normal caused their end. A stupid little error caused the Flock's entire demise.

Normal ended life on Earth.

Yes this is a oneshot; no, I do not intend to write more about this. Once again, no bad reviews please - and if you like funny stuff check out my "Funny Oneshots" story. It's to die for - bad pun intended.
