BE MINE

Stephanie sat on her desk, feeling sad and alone. It was Valentine's Day today. a day for lovers to show their love for one another, to spend some together and to keep the fire of their love burning. Her friends are out, celebrating with their sweethearts while she's here, stuck in her office- moping, waiting. but for whom?

She glanced at the clock. "9:30 p.m." it read.

"Great! Just great! Some Valentine's Day that I have!" She muttered with a sigh. She wasn't expecting to be alone during this wonderful night. She thought of spending it with someone. Someone who will be the first and the last she'd be wanting to spend and share this moment here, with her. But he wasn't here beside her.nowhere to be seen. She'd hoped that she'd see him, even if she meant nothing to him anymore. Sure he doesn't need her anymore; hell, he'd be better of without her. But she won't. she needs him and she wants him back. Back in her arms. back in her life. She wanted Paul back so much that it hurts. She regretted the day she'd lied to him. she despised what she did. Because it cost her his love. She wanted to turn back the hands of time, but there's nothing she could do. Life without him isn't easy. "It's just so. incomplete." Stephanie sighed as a teardrop escaped form her eye. She envied Trish and Stacy who were with their boyfriends tonight. Who'd give them flowers and would shower them with kisses. Who'd give them chocolates and share with them a dinner date. She envied them because they had someone to be with tonight. But she? Well, she had none.

"10:30 p.m." "He won't come. I thought so. Why am I waiting for him anyway? It's obvious he won't bother coming here. Why would he? I'm hoping again. dreaming's the word. It's over. Why ask for something to happen?' She wiped away the tears form her eyes as she stood up, got her stuff and walked towards the door's direction. It was hopeless. Paul won't come anyway. never again. It's too late. Steph opened her door and stepped out off her office.

"I'm sorry I was late."

She was startled by the smooth, low and familiar voice she heard across the corridor. So he came anyway. He was so handsome with that suit of his. well he always was anyway, and he was holding a bunch of red roses and a box of chocolates. She was shocked at what he said. He walked towards her, smiling sweetly and he gave her the roses and the chocolates. "Happy Valentine's Day , Stephanie." Paul caressed her cheek as she placed her palm over his hand.

"I'm sorry, Paul. I'm really sorry!" She threw herself at him and cried. Paul held her, then cupped Steph's face and looked at her blue eyes. "Shh. It's okay. I don't care about the past. Baby, let's start again. and we can start now." He bent down to kiss her, passionately and giving. He was giving her back everything they had together and what they shared. Paul pulled back, smiled at her and held her hand.

"I love you, Stephanie. Will you still be mine?" Steph softened her eyes and replied soothingly. "I love you too, Paul. I've always been yours." Paul locked her tightly in an embrace. He swayed her a little bit until they were dancing slowly along the corridor. Then.

I thought you were going out with someone tonight?" Stephanie teased. Paul held her closer as they danced and replied. "I was, but then I realized someone was waiting for me here tonight. She would be the first and the last one I would want to spend Valentine's Day with. And I wouldn't want to miss it for the world." Paul smiled and claimed her mouth with his.

It felt right. so right. Paul's here with her tonight and his love led him back to her. She wouldn't let him go. never again.
