In the middle of a hedge maze was a lake. The water was pristine and its surface reflected the bright glow of the moon. Fireflies hover near the lake, adding to the magnificent view. It was beautiful, to say the least. The crickets even played a tune that could entrance all that could hear it, these two lovers were no exception. They stand before the lake's depths in each other's embrace, neither wanted to break free from the trance. Their bodies perfect for the other, chocolate –colored locks mingle with black.

"I love you, Minako" said the man.

"And I you, Syaoran" She reciprocated as she stared into his deep amber eyes, her expression of love never faltering.

Suddenly, fireworks littered the sky and like everything else, it was perfect. And yet their attention weren't strayed from the other. Perhaps it was because they drank from cupid's fountain and was overwhelmed. They were drunk, drunk because of the other's alluring gaze, soon he lowered his head and tasted her lips. A meteor could crash but neither would care. The world could end but neither will notice. This scene embodies perfection, with the lights and the scenery. You can say it was taken right out of a storybook with 'The End' inscribed below. But a person new the dark side of this fairytale and she was watching them. She was planning to give both of them a gift and saw this instead. Fate truly has ways of messing everything up, why couldn't their story have a happy ending? Why must she get the shorter end of the stick? Sakura swore she felt her heart break the moment Syaoran knelt down on one knee and pulled out a velvet box.

"Marry me, Minako?" Sakura heard him say, her knees giving out. Minako gasped and fanned her eyes, jumping to hug Syaoran. "Of course! Yes! Yes, Syaoran!" They laughed, and both melted into another kiss. Sakura would do anything just to switch places with her, she would sell her soul just to perhaps turn back time and undo everything she did wrong. She sucked in another breath when she felt tears streaming down her face. Sakura brought up a hand to wipe it away. Curse this, I hate all of this. Why do you do this to me, Syaoran?! How?! She thought that maybe after her heart has been broken so many times that the pain will ache less, but that would be too easy for her, no? and life was everything but easy.

Everything was at a standstill and you, dear reader, watched from a distance, the scene which is unfolding before your very eyes. These people, a pair that felt bliss and a woman who has sadness and longing in her shattered heart. She whispered, her hands clutching a ring that reminded her only of his broken promise to return.

"Syaoran... Please come back."

And this plea was never heard.

"But dreams have ways of turning into nightmares."
