Hey guys! Happy mother's day. This one shot goes out to my mom. Thanks Mom for always supporting me in everything I do and well, giving birth to me! I hope you all enjoy.
Nya clicked on the tv dismayed to find only adds for mother's day gifts. Some day this was turning out to be. For five years this had been her least favorite day ever. Nya had always considered her and her mom close, besides well, keeping the whole her and Kai were the next masters of water and fire thing hidden. But that was to protect them right?
"Well, I sure hope Jay and Lloyd are at least having fun," Cole sighed as he walked into the room, "I can't even get my mom to answer her phone these days."
"At least you have a mom," Zane grumbled.
"So what, are we all just gonna sit in here and be grumpy all day? Come on, let's get out and do something!"
"What do you have in mind Kai?" Nya, Zane, and Cole all asked at once.
"I don't know, go see a movie?"
"Okay," Zane shrugged.
"I'm in," Cole agreed.
"Nya are you coming?" Kai asked hopefully.
"I'm good," Nya said hoping to blow it off like nothing was wrong when in truth everything was.
"Okay," Kai sighed and went out the door.
Nya rolled over on the couch. She wanted to sleep. Sleep until the morning when this dreaded day would come to an end.
Nya must have fallen asleep because the next minute Kai was shaking her awake.
"What?" Nya mumbled.
"I just wanted to make sure you were okay."
"I'm fine."
"You don't look fine. Nya, you're pale. Look, I know you hate mother's day and everything, but just try to have a good day and who knows what will happen."
Nya looked at the ground, "I just miss mom I guess," she sighed.
"I do too, but that's no reason to mope around for today," Kai broke into a rendition of This is the day that made Nya laugh a little, "see things are already looking up."
Kai and Nya left the room to join the others. Cole and Lloyd were stuffing leftovers cake in the fridge. Zane and Jay were talking with Misako, Ed, and Edna.
"There you guys are! We were just saying we should all do dinner out together as a big group," Zane said.
"Alright!" Nya shrugged, "sounds fun."
The group headed outside and began climbing into different cars when Edna pulled Nya aside, "do you mind if we talk for a second?" She asked .
"Is something wrong?" Nya asked.
"Yes. I can see it in your eyes. I wanted to make you an offer. I was wondering if you would be alright if I kinda adopted you as my daughter for the day. I know it's not the same as your actual mom, but with you and Jay engaged and all..."
Nya smiled back, "Sure, I'd love to!"
Edna and Nya walked back to join the others side by side. Things were looking up. Sure, Nya didn't have a real mom to celebrate the day with, but she had Edna, and soon enough she would be her mom.
