It was a hot summer afternoon when I was called to the office. The only reason you were going down there was to be adopted or get scolded. I knew I wasn't getting adopted. Nowadays only the younger kids got adopted. I was 12 at the time.

I heard them talking. I only got bits and pieces of words. "What children... age of 12 and ..." said a womans voice deffinitly not Ms.Goleé. She had a rough voice from years of yelling and screaming. This voice was softer, mellower as if it had never spoke. I caught another piece. "Girls... please and only...we do not ...room for..." It was a mans voice this time.

I heard Ms.Goleé say "There are two girls...fit what...for."

Two names is all it took. My name was said "Ryelin". Then another. "Alexandra". I knew who they would pick. Alexandra. The no good girl that was bossy and mean. If you were on her bad side you were toast. If i was picked I knew I was dead meat. She would make me say no.

The other lady asked if she could meet us. She beckond us in with a motion of her long finger. I was scared and looked down. All I saw was purple hair and a red t-shirt. Alexandra glared at me knowing she had won. The lady with the purple hair said hello. I looked up and said hi shyly. The lady said her name was Tiffany and that the mans name was Mario. I giggled. I was goung to get a ruler across my knuckles for that one.

The nice lady said pointed at me and then said " which one is she?" Ms.Goleé replied "Ryelin" The lady smiled and then said "Shes the one."

I was amazed. Average. Fatty. Stuipid. I was called those things by the other kids. But me picked impossible. I quickly said thank you and rushed to pack my things. To my surprise everything was packed. I grab the suitcase and ran back to the office. Alexandra wasn't going to stop me now.

The lady guided me through the hallway to the entrance. I was nervous and kept fidgeting. I got to the car and fumbled with the seat belt. I practically stabbed my eye. as we drove the long way back I started to sing. I began to sing the words to Hallelujah when the nice lady Tiffany said that i have a beautiful voice.

Then I fell asleep. when we got to her house I was amazed by how huge it was. Mario the man in the red t-shirt carried my suitcase in. Tiffany showed me to my room. I was amazed by how it looked like I had already been living there. posters were up paintings were hung and I had a desk where I can draw and write to my heart's content.
