Artist Comment: Believe it, or not, I dreamt this. Yup. Almost every single thing the characters say is an exact image of this dream I had of Jim Hawkins. I believe that this is what happened when Jim got in trouble with the cops for the first time in his young life. Keep in mind, Jim is only ten when this happens. A bit of a one shot-er but this was such a realistic dream that I had to turn it into a fanfic. I do not own Treasure Planet or any of it's characters. They are all owned by Disney.

It was Jim Hawkins first offense. Two robotic cops led the ten year old inside the Benbow Inn. Every head at the inn turned. Sarah looked at the officers, confused and a little shocked. The young Jim sighed. "I'll just... go to my room then." He said as he walked up the stairs. The officers didn't object. "We'll let you off with a warning, this time son." Jim nodded dejectedly and closed his bedroom door. Jim glared at what he had closed the door on. Stupid officers. Who did they think they were anyway? Jim glared at the door. His breathing becoming heavier with each angry thought. Jim Hawkins cried and kicked his door with all his might, hurting his foot. Jim wailed and clutched his foot, hopping up and down. Jim fell onto his bed, pounded his fist into his pillow and cried.
Some time later Sarah Hawkins opened her son's bedroom door. Jim was curled up like a ball on his bed, facing the opposite direction. She sat on Jim's bed. Jim didn't stir.
"The officers told me what happened. Would you like to talk about it."
A pause.
"No." Jim said.
Sarah sighed.
"This... wouldn't, happen to be because of your father...is it?"
Jim faced his mother. Sarah could tell he had been crying. "When is he coming back?" Jim asked. His little voice struggling not to cry. "I've been waiting and waiting and waiting forever! Ever since dad left, it's like he's never coming back!"
Sarah looked sadly down at her son. Jim saw that look in her eyes.
"Jim..." She began slowly. "Your father, is not coming back."
Jim's eyes widened as a new realization hit him.
"I'm sorry. But that's the way it is sometimes."
Jim's eyes began to tear.
"I know sometimes it hurts to hope, and it hurts more to care. But you have to promise me you won't stop caring."
Sarah opened up her arms for her son to hug her. Jim looked away. He got up and left. Sarah sighed. Jim went out of the inn. He climbed the vine to the roof and sat there leaning against the chimney. As he was away from his mother, and disapproving eyes, he began to cry.
And then I wake up. What do you think? R & R please.
