Another Rizzoli & Isles oneshot! This one takes place during the episode "When the Gun Goes Bang, Bang, Bang".

Jane looked over at Maura for what seemed like the hundredth time. Yep. Maura was still staring at the man a few feet away who was lifting weights.

"Maura, you're staring," Jane said to her friend. Maura looked at her and frowned slightly.

"Females are attracted to males with advanced muscular features. It's natural selection at work," the doctor replied.

"Well, stop."

"Why? Is it making you uncomfortable?"

"Yes." Jane didn't mention she wanted Maura to stare at her like that.

Maura turned to look back at the man, a smile crossing her face. "You have a very nicely developed muscle system," she said to him. He smiled back at her as he changed weights.

"You might as well tell him he has a nice ass too," Jane said, her jealousy making her voice bitter.

"And a very proportional gluteus maximus," Maura added.

Jane looked away and shook her head. "I am never working out with you again."

"You told me to tell him he had a nice—"

"Do you know how to pick up on sarcasm?" Jane asked, looking back at her friend.

"Not if it's subtle," Maura replied.

The two continued in silence.

"What about me?" Jane asked.

Maura looked at her questioningly. "I'm afraid I don't understand."

"Do I have a nicely developed muscle system or whatever?"

"I suppose for your size and gender, yes."

"For my size and—why can't you ever just answer yes or no?"

"I'm sorry. I didn't realize it was a question of opinion."

"All right, then let me be more specific: do I, in your personal opinion, Maura Isles, have a nice ass?"

Maura leaned back for a few seconds, and then straightened back up. "You know, this kind of sexual competition is usually only seen amongst males."

"You know what, Maura? Forget it."

Jane stepped off her machine, throwing a towel over one of her shoulders. Maura could be frustrating… sometimes Jane wondered what she even found appealing about the doctor.

"Jane?"

Jane sighed and turned back to see Maura grinning at her. "Your gluteus maximus is visually appealing."

Jane just shook her head and started to leave.

"That means you have a great ass!" she heard Maura call after her. Jane couldn't keep herself from laughing at that as she left the gym, and left Maura wondering why everyone was staring at her in a peculiar way.
