DISCLAIMER: I own nothing, because if I did I'm sure I would have had a MUCH better day. And the lyrics in bold are from "Hanging by a Thread" by Nickel Creek. (Good song, you should read the lyrics).

A/N: Takes place sometime after 'No Rest for the Wicked'. Sorry for the sad angst drabble. I had a crummy day and this is what came out. I hope you at least enjoy it. Reviews welcomed.

"With you here…I am strong, no sign of weakness…"

He's going strong until he turns in the car and Dean's not there.

He whips his head back to the road, the hunt…to life now. To alone.

He can feel it welling up inside of him; all the hurt and anger - the utter despair.

It's twisting his insides and boiling his blood. It makes his heart and head pound in time until it feels like they're going to explode. Until he wishes they just would.

His vision starts to blur with tears; unshed and wholly unwelcome.

His lips start to tingle and his head swim. He's getting dizzy with the grief of it.

That's when he pulls the car over. Because the tears are coming and the only thing holding them back is the breath he hasn't let go.

When the car stops, the floodgates open. And he's a mass of shuddering shoulders, too rapid breathing and choked up sobs.

Until one sob come out half a laugh, because all he can think about his how Dean would call him a girl then kick his ass for crying on the upholstery.

But the laugh is gone just as fast and he cries harder, because he knows he'll never laugh again.

"With you gone…I am hanging by a thread…"
