There was silence surrounding her. Almost too much for her to take, pushing in on her, as if it was trying to consume her completely. She couldn't take it anymore. It was in this silence that it all came back to her, the horrors of the war, the memories of those lost to her. Every night, all night. This silence was the reason that she could not sleep.

Slowly pushing herself to her feet, she glanced out the window to the moon that was high in the sky, spreading its dim light, illuminating the earth in an eerie, almost ghostly way. She hopped off the bed and padded down the hallway, her pale feet running across the cold floors.

She knew that she wasn't supposed to leave her dorm this late at night, but she couldn't help it. She could not stay there any longer, while sleep taunted her. She needed to feel the moonlight on her, feel it bathe her long, blonde hair in light, hear the secrets that the wind whispered, just for her.

When she was out there, alone, she felt whole once more. There was no room for her to mourn, no need for her to dwell on what happened. She was one with nature.

She dipped through the hallways silently, carefully navigating her way to the familiar balcony. This was where she came all the time, just to escape.

That was when she saw him. The skinny figure outlined in the moonlight. Someone was already there. She began to turn away, but stopped when she recognized whom it was.

"Hello Harry." Her soft voice rang through the night like a bell. The figure whirled around, exposing the boy's shocked expression.

"Luna, you nearly scared me to death!"

"Perhaps you should be more aware of your surroundings. You never know when the moon frogs might come out." She walked to join him at the banister, and stared upwards, gazing at the moon. "What brings you here so late?"

"I could ask you the same." Said Harry.

"I feel safe here. When it all get too much, when I can't sleep. I come here to get the nargles out." Harry smiled at her explanation.

"Me too. Its easy to lose yourself in the stars."

"Oh no, for me it's the moon. It takes me in, and fills my mind full of its light. It tells me that things are going to be alright. I feel safe when I look in to it." She drew her arms around her, in an almost hug, before turning to Harry. "I suppose you couldn't sleep either." Harry shook his head.

"Haven't been able to since…"

"You defeated Voldemort." She finished for him.

"I just can't stop thinking about what I could have done better, how many lives I could have saved. If only I had done things differently… then maybe…" He trailed off, not knowing what he was going to say. "And then, there are the nights when I just lay there, and I see His face, and I worry that I might be like him. That one day, I might lose control…"

Luna stayed quiet for the longest time, just staring upwards to the sky, before replying.

"You'll never be like him."

"how…"

"I know that you won't, because you are too good. You care too much. You have been through everything that the world has thrown at you, and you've come through, just as true of heart as you were before."

Silence passed between them, but different then the previous one. This one was not screaming at her, it was pleasant, comfortable. Then, she felt Harry move beside her, and felt him press a small kiss onto her cheek.

"I'm lucky to have you as my friend." Luna half smiled up at the moon, then turned to Harry, her wide eyes fixed on his.

"Have you finally got the Nargles out?"

"Yes, I think I have." He chucked.

"Off to bed then!" Her chipper voice chimed at him, and she ran off in front of him, through the corridor, while he tried to catch up with her.
