I couldn't help it, I'd bought him a christmas present.

Not a lot of people had stayed behind for the holidays. The few of us that were there, Him included, were gathered around the giant, decorated tree in the Great Hall.

He'd decided that we might as well open our presents together on Christmas morning. I was glad. He picked up the gifts and handed them out, surprisingly I'd received one too. I stared at it, baffled. Putting it in front of me, I'd almost missed him picking up The present.

The sparkly blue paper cast a shine on his face. It had made me think of his eyes. I saw him smile as he read the card, that pleased me. It simply read 'To: Bright blue eyes with lemony stars, merry Christmas.'

He carefully opened the wrapping paper and looked inside. I ignored everyone else around me and observed. It was a small gift, not very expensive, not very complicated. At first he seemed puzzled. He pulled the sphere out and held it in his hand. I thought of the other card in the box, it would tell him.

He must've found it. The sphere lit up a spectacular blue as he tapped it with his wand. He was bathed in it, the stars that were held within the sphere speckled his face and I couldn't help a slight grin. His face showed wonder. I hoped that meant he liked it, I committed the look to memory.

I finally noticed that the others had been looking too, so did he. He smiled brightly and radiated glee. Warmth spread through me as I realized that he liked it very much indeed. His gaze met mine. I thought I would burst.

A questioning glance at my own, still wrapped present reminded me I had yet to unwrap it. I grabbed the gift and opened it just as carefully. There had been no card attached but when I opened it I gasped. Inside lay a simple piece of paper, on it the words 'Thank you'.

My eyes wide open in surprise, I couldn't help but laugh. He had outsmarted me, before I myself even knew what I was going to do he had already anticipated my move. I shook my head, lost in the feeling of amazement at that man. I didn't notice everyone else getting up to eat breakfast until I felt a hand on my shoulder. Albus was smiling at me.

I couldn't help it, I smiled back.
